Abstract: A control method, apparatus and system for anti-vortex induced vibration of a wind turbine are provided. With the method, it is determined whether the wind turbine enters an anti-vortex induced vibration mode; an anti-vortex induced vibration function and triggering a window period is enabled in response to the wind turbine entering the anti-vortex induced vibration mode; and a blade of the wind turbine is adjusted to a preset anti-vortex induced vibration position in the window period, where the window period indicates a minimum time to complete the anti-vortex induced vibration function.

Abstract: A flow power plant comprises a rotor rotating about a rotation axis and having a plurality of pivoting blades. Each pivoting blade is mounted to the rotor for pivoting between a position pivoted-in towards and a position pivoted-out away from the rotation axis. One separate electric machine operable both as a motor and as a generator is assigned to each pivoting blade for applying torques between the rotor and the pivoting blade. A controller separately controls the separate electric machines during each revolution of the respective pivoting blade together with the rotor around the rotation axis in such a way that a predetermined course of a pivot angle of the respective pivoting blade results between the pivoted-in position and the pivoted-out position. The predetermined course of the pivot angle is predetermined for a maximum recovery of energy from a flow flowing against the rotor transversely to the rotation axis.

Abstract: A method for detecting a failure condition in one or more components of a wind turbine is provided. The method includes actuating, via a controller, an impact device to generate a vibration having a vibration frequency and a vibration magnitude in the one or more components. The method further includes receiving data indicative of the vibration frequency and the vibration magnitude from a sensor communicatively coupled to the controller. The method further includes determining, via the controller, whether the data indicative of the vibration frequency and/or the vibration magnitude is outside of a predetermined vibration range for the one or more components.

Abstract: A method for operating a wind turbine is provided. The wind turbine has a tower with external tower loads acting thereon and has an aerodynamic rotor with rotor blades having adjustable pitch angles, which rotor generates rotor thrust. The method comprises the following steps: determining a speed of a tower head of the tower and/or of a nacelle of the wind turbine, determining an absolute wind speed in the region of the wind turbine, determining a pure wind power on the rotor on the basis of the absolute wind speed, determining an apparent wind power on the rotor on the basis of the speed of the tower head and/or of the nacelle, determining an aerodynamic tower vibration power on the basis of a difference between the apparent wind power and the pure wind power, and performing feedback control of the wind turbine using the aerodynamic tower vibration power.

Abstract: The invention provides a method of controlling operation of a wind turbine having a tower. The method includes determining an overall control output including lateral oscillation control for dampening lateral oscillation of the tower, and using the overall control output to control wind turbine operation. The method further includes receiving lateral oscillation sensor data indicative of a level of lateral oscillation of the tower, determining a rated lateral oscillation control output in dependence on the received lateral oscillation data, and receiving an indication of yaw error of the wind turbine. A lateral oscillation control output included in the overall control output is determined to be de-rated from the rated lateral oscillation control output when the indicated yaw error is above a predetermined lower threshold level.

Abstract: The invention relates to control of a wind turbine comprising a plurality of multi-axial accelerometers mounted at different positions in the nacelle and/or in a top portion of the tower. The position and orientation of each accelerometer as mounted is obtained, accelerations in at least two different directions by each accelerometer are measured during operation of the wind turbine. From a number of predetermined mode shapes for the movement of the wind turbine is then determined an absolute position of at least one of the accelerometers during operation of the wind turbine based on the measured accelerations, the mount position and orientation of each accelerometer and the pre-determined mode shapes. Hereby a more precise absolute position during operation is obtained which can be used in the controlling of the turbine.

Abstract: A wind turbine diagnostic device for diagnosing mechanical damage to generator components of at least one wind turbine, comprising at least one speed sensor for determining a variation over time of the rotational speed of a generator of a wind turbine, the speed sensor having at least one speed signal output for outputting the determined variation over time of the rotational speed, a frequency analysis module and a frequency spectrum signal output for outputting a frequency spectrum, the frequency analysis module determining a frequency spectrum from the determined variation over time of the rotational speed, and a comparator element for comparing a frequency spectrum with a prescribed standard frequency spectrum and for diagnosing mechanical damage to generator components on the basis of the comparison. This increases the possibility of predicting mechanical damage to generator components caused by vibrations.
