Abstract: The invention relates to a method of constructing an elevator comprising providing an elevator car in a hoistway, said elevator car comprising a cabin frame, and a temporary pulley beam detachably mounted on the cabin frame; mounting a hoisting machine in a first position which first position is at a first vertical level in the hoistway; suspending (first suspending) the elevator car with a hoisting roping from the hoisting machine via said temporary pulley beam; moving the elevator car in the hoistway with the hoisting machine while it is in said first position and suspended by the roping via said temporary pulley beam; mounting a hoisting machine in a second position which second position is at a second higher vertical level inside a machine room located above the hoistway; removing the temporary pulley beam from the elevator car, comprising detaching the temporary pulley beam from the cabin frame; suspending the car with a hoisting roping from the hoisting machine mounted in said second position via said cabin frame without said temporary pulley beam; moving the elevator car in the hoistway with the hoisting machine while it is in said second position and the car is suspended via said cabin frame without said temporary pulley beam. The invention also relates to an elevator arrangement for implementing the method.

Said support structure comprises an anchoring beam structure comprising a lower end engaging the lower edge structure, and an upper end engaging the upper edge structure; and a support beam structure connected to the anchoring beam structure and protruding from the anchoring beam structure into the hoistway; and wherein said at least one flexible tension member hangs in the hoistway supported by the support beam structure. The invention also relates to a method implementing the construction arrangement.

Abstract: The self-climbing elevator machine room comprises two decks positioned upon each other. Each deck comprises guide means supporting the deck movably on guide rails and locking means locking and unlocking the deck to the guide rails and/or to guide rail fixing means. Lifting means move the two decks along the guide rails in relation to each other. At least one power source provides power to the lifting means. Abstract: A method for monitoring elevator suspension rope condition, the elevator comprising: a car; a hoisting machinery with a motor, a traction sheave and a machine brake; one or more suspension ropes; and a counterweight; the car and the counterweight being suspended by said one or more ropes which are guided over a unitary traction sheave or a group of rotatable individual wheels comprised by the traction sheave for moving the car vertically in an elevator shaft; the method comprising a) performing consecutive first and second measurement steps, wherein in the first measurement step: parking the car to a first position in the shaft, in which position a total rope force on car side is selected different from a total rope force on counterweight side, and locking the car vertically immobile in place relative the shaft; enabling the traction sheave or one of the individual wheels to rotate to the direction of larger rope force; recording a first rotation angle difference (Δφ1) of the traction sheave or said one individual wheel; and in the second measurement step: parking the car to a second position in the shaft, in which position a total rope force on car side is selected different from total rope force on counterweight side, and locking the car vertically immobile in place relative the shaft; enabling the traction sheave or said one individual wheel to rotate to the direction of larger rope force; recording a second rotation angle difference (Δφ2) of the traction sheave or said one individual wheel; and b) calculating the rope stiffness based on at least said first and second measurements in at least two different vertical positions; c) indicating rope condition based on changed rope stiffness.
