An information processing apparatus includes a display, a position detector that detects a position in a display surface of the display and a hardware processor, wherein the hardware processor, in response to detection of the position with which an object has been in contact, detects a portable device, establishes a communication path with the portable device, detects a continuation state based on a state of the portable device or a state of the information processing apparatus, and in the case where the communication path is established with the portable device, and the portable device is detected, switches to a cooperation mode, and in the case where the portable device is no longer detected, if the continuation state is detected, maintains the cooperation mode, and in the case where the portable device is no longer detected, if the continuation state is not detected, switches from the cooperation mode to the single mode.

An image processing apparatus capable of being remotely operated by a remote operation device includes an operation acceptor, and a hardware processor, wherein the hardware processor executes a process corresponding to the operation accepted by the operation acceptor, in the case where a cooperation mode is set, executes a process in accordance with a command received from the remote operation device, acquires a type of a first medium used by the remote operation device, in the case where the cooperation mode is not set, notifies the user by using a second medium when an operation is accepted by the operation acceptor, and in the case where the cooperation mode is set, if the second medium is different from the first medium, notifies the user by using the first medium when an operation is accepted by the operation acceptor.

An image processing apparatus is provided. Firmware customized for a user who uses the image processing apparatus has been installed in advance in the image processing apparatus. The image processing apparatus has a hardware processor configured to monitor a condition of use of the image processing apparatus and determine whether or not the monitored condition of use is a condition of use adapted to the customized firmware, and to perform processing for updating to the latest standard firmware when it is determined that the monitored condition of use departs from the condition of use adapted to the customized firmware.

An MFP (Multi Function Peripheral) serving as a display device detects a touch on the touch panel and then sets a wait time in accordance with the position of the touch on the touch panel. If another touch is detected before the wait time has passed since the touch on the touch panel is detected, the MFP determines that the detected two touches are multi-touch. If the wait time has passed without detecting another touch since the touch on the touch panel is detected, the MFP determines that the detected touch is single touch.

An image forming apparatus remotely operated by an external terminal includes a generation unit generating a first composite image by combining an operation screen image corresponding to an operation screen of the image forming apparatus that includes software keys, and the hardware key area image of an area including hardware key images corresponding to hardware keys of the image forming apparatus, a setting unit not setting a dead area within the hardware key images but setting the dead area in a portion of an area of at least one software key among the software keys, the portion being on a side close to the hardware key area image, and the at least one software key being adjacent to the hardware key area image, and a transmission unit transmitting the first composite image as a remote operation image used in remotely operating the image forming apparatus, to the external terminal.

A printing setting apparatus for generating printing setting information described in one data format included in plural types of data formats and submitting a printing job to an image forming apparatus capable of executing a printing job based on printing setting information described in said plural types of data formats, comprising: an operation acceptor for accepting a user's operation for input; a generator for making printing setting based on control information received by said operation acceptor and generating printing setting information described in said one data format based on said printing setting; a converter for converting said printing setting information described in said one data format into printing setting information described in another data format included in said plural types of data formats; and an output part for outputting said printing setting information which is generated by said converter and described in said another data format.
