摘要: The present invention provides a technique for, in the case in which a failure has occurred in a shared memory, controlling a period of a pseudo through operation to reduce a period in which performance of a disk array device falls. Control information is divided into management information, which is required to be duplexed, and directory information, which is only required to simplexed, and the management information and the directory information are stored in separate shared memories. In the case in which a failure has occurred in the shared memory of an expanded memory unit (Option) storing the directory information, the directory information is reestablished in the shared memory of a basic memory unit (Basic). The pseudo through operation is cancelled at the point when the directory information is reestablished. After a package of the expanded memory unit is replaced with a normal product, the directory information is reestablished again. Management information managed in the other cluster is copied to the shared memory of the basis memory unit to complete maintenance and recovery work.

摘要: To inhibit the occurrence of communication failures in the system in which a secondary storage control apparatus acquires journal data from a primary storage control apparatus and writes the data to a secondary volume.The primary storage control apparatus comprises a command processing unit, a journal data creation unit, a journal data transfer unit which reads journal data from a primary journal volume based on a journal data read request and transfers the read journal data to the secondary storage control apparatus, and a transfer control unit. In specified occasions, the transfer control unit controls at least either one of the journal data transfer amount by the journal data transfer unit and the width of the communication band utilized for journal data transfer.

摘要: A remote copy system includes a first storage device performing data transmission/reception with a host computer, a second storage device receiving data from the first storage device, and a third storage device receiving data from the second storage device. The first storage device includes a logical volume, the second storage device includes a logical volume being a virtual volume, and the third storage device includes a logical volume. The first storage system changes the state of a first pair of the logical volumes based on the state of a second pair of the logical volumes. With such a remote copy system and a method for use therein, any data backup failure can be prevented.

摘要: An object of the invention is to maintain conformability of data stored in a secondary storage system although a time stamp is not granted to write data received by a primary storage system. At least one of one or more computers includes a storage managing unit. The storage managing unit issues an ID next to an immediately previously issued ID to one or more primary storage systems (PDKCs) at regular or irregular intervals. Upon receiving a write command from one of the one or more computers, each PDKC prepares a journal (JNL) including a replica (journal data) of write data and the newest ID from the storage managing unit, and transmits the journal to a secondary storage system (SDKC). The SDKC stores a received JNL and reflects up to a particular JNL of non-reflected JNLs in a secondary volume. The particular JNL has an ID older by one than the oldest ID of the newest arrival completion IDs in one or more SDKCs.

摘要: The present invention makes it possible, by virtualizing an external memory resource as an internal memory resource, to effectively utilize memory resources, and to synchronize the storage contents of a virtualized inner volume and a real inner volume. The first storage device comprises an internal volume and a virtual internal volume. The entity of the virtual internal volume is the external volume of a second storage device. The external volume can be dealt with as a volume inside the first storage device by mapping the external volume in the storage hierarchy of the first storage device. Furthermore, a copying pair can be formed by internal volume and virtual internal volume, and the contents of both volumes can be synchronized.

摘要: A method for controlling shared memories permits I/O data exchange among storage controllers. A storage controller is provided for each of a plurality of disk array devices. Each storage controller includes at least one shared memory. Each shared memory stores information about the disk array devices. On each shared memory, addresses of the shared memories of other storage controllers are stored. An I/O request is received from a host device with one storage controller A. The storage controller A identifies an address of a shared memory managing a volume that is a target of the request. If the address is of a shared memory of another storage controller B, the storage controller A issues an instruction to a switching device to establish a connection path between the storage controller A's memory and the storage controller B's memory. The host device is notified that a connection path has been established.
