摘要： A liquid crystal cell manufacturing method includes preparing a pair of glass substrates each including an area configured to form a plurality of finished liquid crystal display apparatuses thereon, while a plurality of seal members and a plurality of pillars each including ends that respectively abut against the pair of glass substrates are interposed between the pair of glass substrates, adhering the pair of glass substrates to form a liquid crystal display apparatus forming assembly, and while the liquid crystal display apparatus forming assembly is formed, forming a plurality of scribe lines that intersect each other on surfaces of the pair of glass substrates that are opposite to surfaces of the pair of glass substrates that oppose each other. At least a part of each of the pillars is arranged to overlap at least one of regions, between the pair of glass substrates, corresponding to the plurality of scribe lines.

摘要： A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a liquid crystal display device and a touch panel. The display device includes first and second substrates positioned on observation and opposite sides, respectively, a liquid crystal layer interposed between the substrates, a first electrode provided on one of opposed inner surface sides of the substrates, a second electrode provided on an inner surface side of one of the substrates and supplies a voltage between itself and the first electrode to apply an electric field to the liquid crystal layer, and two polarizing plates respectively arranged on the observation and opposite sides on the other side of the substrates. The touch panel includes an electroconductive film arranged on an outer surface of the substrate or the polarizing plate on the observation side, and detects a specified position on the electroconductive film based on a voltage previously applied thereto and a voltage measured at the specified position.

摘要： A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a first polarizing plate, a liquid crystal display cell, a second polarizing plate, a switching cell, a first reflective polarizing plate, and a surface light source, which are arranged in this order. The apparatus further includes a control driving unit to switch the switching cell between a first and second state. In the first state, plane of polarization of polarized light emitted by the surface light source and transmitted through the first reflective polarizing plate and the switching cell is coincident with a transmissive axis of the second polarizing plate. In the second state, a plane of polarization of the polarized light input to the liquid crystal display cell from the side of the first polarizing plate and transmitted through the second polarizing plate and the switching cell is coincident with a reflective axis of the first reflective polarizing plate.

摘要： A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a liquid crystal element including a front substrate positioned on the side of an observer and having a first electrode mounted to one surface, a rear substrate having a second electrode arranged to face said first electrode, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between these substrates, said liquid crystal layer controlling the polarized state of the transmitted light in accordance with the electric field applied between the first and the second electrodes. A first reflection polarizing plate is arranged on the front side of the liquid crystal element and reflects the light of one of the two polarized components of the incident light. Two polarized components are perpendicular to each other, and transmit the light of the other polarized component.

摘要： An LCD apparatus includes an LCD panel having a color filter for a plurality of color components and having a plurality of pixels each associated with one of the color components of the color filter, and a side lighting-type backlight unit disposed under the LCD panel. The backlight unit includes a light guide and a light source disposed at least at one lateral end of the light guide, and further includes a reflecting layer on a side opposite to a side facing the LCD panel to reflect light coming towards the reflecting layer from the light guide. The color filter is configured to compensate a change in color spectrum in the ambient light that has passed through the LCD panel and the light guide and that has been reflected by the reflecting layer back to the light guide and the LCD panel so that the color temperature of white display of the LCD panel by the ambient light remains substantially the same as the color temperature of the original ambient light.

A viewing angle control circuit supplies a viewing angle control voltage between at least one of the first and second electrodes and the third electrode to generate between these electrodes a vertical electric field.
