    Abstract: A mixing system for mixing a liquid includes a first impeller segment having a first mount and a first mixing blade secured to the first mount and a second impeller segment having a second mount and a first mixing blade secured to the second mount, the second impeller segment being separate and discrete from the first impeller segment. One or more drive members are secured to the first impeller segment and the second impeller segment for concurrently rotating the first impeller segment and the second impeller segment about a rotational axis. The first impeller segment and the second impeller segment are secured to the one or more drive members so that a plane extending normal to the axis of rotation intersects with the first mixing blade of the first impeller segment and the first mixing blade of the second impeller segment.

    Abstract: An adjustable foam sensor system is disclosed. The adjustable foam sensor system can include an adjustable foam sensor coupled to a transition member with a foam probe extending from the transition member. The adjustable foam sensor system can also include an adjustable housing that can be coupled to a container interface for interfacing with a container of a fluid processing system. The adjustable housing can be configured to be compressed or extended in response to a force, which in turn can reposition or move the adjustable foam sensor in the container. A controller can automatically adjust the adjustable foam sensor based on sensed and/or determined fluid levels, as well as control the delivery of anti-foam for reducing foam in the container.

    Abstract: A method for filtering a gas includes passing a gas into a compartment of a casing that includes a polymeric film, the casing having: a first sleeve having a first outlet opening, a first filter being at least partially disposed within the first sleeve so that gas passing through the first sleeve must pass through the first filter; and a second sleeve having an second outlet opening, a second filter being at least partially disposed within the second sleeve so that gas passing through the second sleeve must pass through the second filter, the second sleeve being closed so that the gas passing into the compartment of the casing passes through the first sleeve and the first filter and directly contacts at least a portion of the first sleeve comprised of the polymeric film but does not pass through the second sleeve. Opening the second sleeve when a predetermined condition is met so that the gas passes through the second sleeve and the second filter.

A condenser bag is formed of a polymeric film and bounds a channel that extends between a first end and an opposing second end, the first end of the condenser bag being fluid coupled with the upper end of the container bag. A tubular transfer line has a first end coupled with the condenser bag at a first location so as to communicate with the channel and an opposing second end coupled with the condenser bag at a second location located between the container bag and the first location so as to communicate with the channel.

    Abstract: A method for culturing a microbial or cellular seed culture includes positioning a first flexible bag within a chamber of a first retainer, the first retainer being secured to a mixer table. A culture is produced within a compartment of the flexible bag, the culture comprising a growth media and a microbial or cellular starter culture added thereto. The mixer table is activated so that the culture is mixed within the compartment of the first flexible bag while the microbes or cells of the culture grow, the culture having a maximum volume of less than 10 liters.
