Abstract: A method for manufacturing a vehicular rear slider window assembly includes attaching an upper rail and a lower rail at an inner side of a fixed window panel. The lower rail includes a first attaching surface that attaches at the fixed window panel and a second attaching surface opposite the first attaching surface. The method includes disposing a movable window panel in a channel of the lower rail and a channel of the upper rail and attaching a retaining element along the lower rail and at the second attaching surface of the lower rail. The retaining element includes an attaching portion that attaches at the second attaching surface and a retaining portion that extends at least partially across the channel of the lower rail to limit vertical movement of the movable window panel relative to the upper and lower rails.

Abstract: A window assembly for a vehicle includes a window panel that has an electrically conductive trace established at a surface of the window panel. The electrically conductive trace includes a single continuous electrically conductive trace that has a positive end for electrically connecting to a positive terminal and a negative end for electrically connecting to a negative terminal. The electrically conductive trace includes a plurality of spaced apart trace segments disposed across the surface of the window panel and a plurality of connecting trace segments that electrically connect adjacent ends of adjacent trace segments, with each connecting trace segment electrically connecting to adjacent ends of only two adjacent trace segments. An electrical connector is connected to the positive and negative terminals at the window panel to provide electrical power to the electrically conductive trace. The provided electrical power may be from a 48 volt power supply of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular slider window assembly includes a frame portion having an upper rail and a lower rail, a fixed window panel, and a movable window panel that is movable along the rails between an opened position and a closed position. A drive system is operable to move the movable window panel between the opened position and the closed position. The drive system includes a single flexible drive element that, when the drive system is actuated to move the window panel in one direction, the flexible drive element pulls the movable window panel along the rails, and when the drive system is actuated to move the window panel in the opposite direction, the flexible drive element pushes the movable window panel along the rails. The lower rail includes guide structure that limits flexing of the flexible drive element when the flexible drive element pushes the movable window panel along the rails.

Abstract: A vehicular slider window assembly includes a frame having upper and lower rails. A fixed window has an opening and the rails are attached at the fixed window. A movable window is movable between a closed position and an opened position. A carrier disposed at a lower edge of the movable window moves with the movable window between the opened and closed positions. A sensing system determines when the movable window is in the closed position and includes a switch assembly that is actuated when the movable window is in the closed position. The switch assembly includes a switch device within a housing. A portion of the housing is an end stop configured to limit movement of the carrier when the movable window is in the closed position. The switch device includes a contact and, when the movable window is in the closed position, the contact actuates the switch device.

Abstract: A vehicular slider window assembly includes a movable window panel that is movable along rails at an opening of a fixed window panel. A perimeter seal is disposed at a surface of the fixed window panel and circumscribes the opening and is configured to seal against a surface of the movable window panel when the movable window panel is in a closed position. The perimeter seal includes elongated sealing portions joined at respective corner regions, with adjacent end regions of attachment elements of the sealing portions being spaced from one another at the respective corner regions such that there is a gap between the adjacent end regions. With the attachment elements attached at the surface of the fixed window panel, a sealant is dispensed into the gaps via passageways to seal the corner regions of the perimeter seal at the fixed window panel.

Abstract: A method for providing electrical connection to a heater grid outside of a sealing area of a vehicular rear liftgate window assembly includes providing a glass window panel configured to be pivotally mounted at a vehicle and (i) establishing a heater grid at a central region of an inner surface of the glass window panel, (ii) establishing busbars at the inner surface inboard of a perimeter region and at terminal ends of the electrically conductive traces, and (iii) establishing busbar connecting portions at the inner surface that electrically connect to and extend from the respective busbars across the perimeter region to an outboard region of the inner surface of the glass window panel. The perimeter region includes a sealing region that contacts a seal at the vehicle when the glass window panel is pivotally mounted at the vehicle and when the glass window panel is in the closed position.

Abstract: A method for making a slider window assembly for a vehicle includes providing at least one fixed window panel and a movable window panel. A perimeter seal is disposed at least at a surface of the fixed window panel and includes a continuous sealing element that circumscribes an opening of the fixed window panel and that is configured to seal against the movable window panel about a periphery of the movable window panel when the movable window panel is closed. The perimeter seal includes a sealing tab at a corner region of the perimeter seal where an upper sealing portion is joined with a first elongated side sealing portion. The sealing tab is established at an elongated sealing lip of the upper sealing portion or of the first elongated side sealing portion. The sealing tab extends from the elongated sealing lip toward the surface of the fixed window panel.

Abstract: A window assembly for a vehicle includes a glass window panel having a non-light-transmitting layer established at a perimeter region thereof, and a sensing device disposed at the glass window panel at and behind the non-light-transmitting layer. The non-light-transmitting layer has at least one light-transmitting aperture or icon or alphanumeric character established thereat. The sensing device is disposed at the glass window panel such that a sensor and an illumination source of the sensing device are disposed at each of the light-transmitting apertures established at the non-light-transmitting layer. When the illumination sources are activated, the respective illumination source emits light through the respective light-transmitting aperture and does not emit light through the non-light-transmitting layer, whereby a person viewing the window panel from exterior of the vehicle views a plurality of icons or alphanumeric characters illuminated by respective ones of the illumination sources when the illumination source is/are activated.
