Abstract:
An assistance method for adjusting the pressure of a tire mounted on a wheel of a motor vehicle having an electronic module adapted to transmit, to an on-board central unit in the vehicle, signals including data representing the pressure of the associated tire, this assistance method includes, in the first place, during an action of adjusting the pressure of a tire, determining, after receiving a number n of initial measurement signals, where n≧2, the gradient or slope Cd of the straight line representing the variation of the measured value Pm(t) of the pressure as a function of time. Next, on receiving each subsequent measurement signal, the remaining time required to obtain the setpoint pressure Pc is deduced from the ratio |Pc-Pm(t)|/Cd, and, on the expiry of this remaining time, initiating a procedure for managing the cessation of the pressure adjustment, and signaling the end of the adjustment.
Abstract:
A vehicle includes a powertrain, body, component, tire, lighting device, sensor, and controller. The lighting device is positioned with respect to the body or component, which is connected to the body, and illuminates in response to an output signal in a manner corresponding to a status of the vehicle. The sensor determines the status. The controller executes a method to receive, from a remote device, a proximity signal indicative of an operator of the vehicle being within range of the vehicle, and receives an input signal from the sensor indicative of the status of the vehicle. The status includes an ignition status and/or a low tire pressure status. The controller transmits the output signal to the lighting device in response to both the received input signal and the proximity signal to command illumination of the lighting device to thereby display the status of the vehicle.
Abstract:
System and methods for indicating a tire pressure condition are disclosed. Some systems and methods include receiving, by a control unit comprising a processor and a tangible, non-transitory memory, a tire pressure data, determining, by the control unit, a relationship of the tire pressure data to a predetermined tire pressure, and causing, by the control unit, an output device to display a value in accordance with the relationship, wherein the output device is externally located on an aircraft.
Abstract:
A monitoring unit wirelessly monitors sensor(s) associated with a vehicle and includes (a) a radio frequency (RF) receiver that receives RF signals from one or more sensors; (b) a processing unit connected to the RF receiver that monitors information related received RF signals from the sensor(s); (c) the processing unit monitoring the received RF signals and a status of an output of the sensor(s) associated with the vehicle. The received RF signals may include information on a value of an output of the sensor and limits of acceptable values, and the processing unit generates an alarm when the value of the output is outside of the limits of acceptable values. The alarm may be a visual indication visible from the exterior of the vehicle.
Abstract:
An apparatus for displaying the state of the tire pressure for a vehicle tire of a truck trailer includes a lamp to optically display the tire pressure state. An arm is provided with the lamp arranged thereon. A mount fixes the arm to the truck trailer and the arm is made substantially of an elastomer material so as to cause the arm to be flexibly deformable when colliding with a foreign object. The arm reverts back to its initial configuration after such a collision as a result of its elastic material characteristic.
Abstract:
A vision system for a vehicle includes a mirror mounting button attached at a first location at an in-cabin surface of a windshield and an attachment member attached at a second location at the in-cabin surface of the windshield. A light absorbing layer is disposed at the windshield and at least partially masks the presence of the attachment member from view by a viewer who is viewing through the windshield from outside the vehicle. An accessory module is releasably attached to the attachment member and accommodates a forward facing camera. With the accessory module releasably attached to the attachment member at the windshield, the forward facing camera views through the windshield. The forward facing camera includes a component of a camera-based driver assistance system of the vehicle.
Abstract:
A tire pressure monitoring system which is linked to the control unit or other control device of a vehicle which limits the operation, or completely disables the operation of, the vehicle when the pressure in one or more of the tires of the vehicle is insufficient. The operation of the vehicle may be limited so as to completely disable the operation of the engine, transmission, or a combination of both. The rotational speed of the engine may be limited, or the operation of the transmission may be limited. A combination of limitations may be placed on both the engine and transmission, to prohibit the vehicle from being operated at unsafe speeds due to the tire pressure in one or more of the tires being at an undesirable level.
Abstract:
Various embodiments may include methods and systems for determining a tire pressure status. The system may include at least one computer. An input defining an inflation status of one or more vehicle tires, as well as tire inflation data of the one or more tires, may be received. A specific value associated with an inflation event of the one or more vehicle tires may be calculated based on the inflation data. Further, one or more messages for outputting the specific value from one or more vehicle components may be generated and transmitted to the one or more vehicle components. The specific value may be output as one or more messages from the vehicle.
Abstract:
A vehicular driver assistance system includes an attachment element attached at an in-cabin surface of a windshield of the vehicle. The attachment element includes a mirror mounting element and an interior rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror head and a mirror support. The mirror support includes a mirror mount that is configured to mount the interior rearview mirror assembly to the mirror mounting element. A structure is attached at the vehicle windshield local to the attachment element and the structure accommodates a forward facing camera and, with the structure attached at the vehicle windshield, the forward facing camera views through the vehicle windshield. The forward facing camera may include a component of at least one of (i) an automatic headlamp control system, (ii) a collision avoidance system, (iii) a windshield fogging detection system and (iv) a rain sensing system.
Abstract:
A temperature indicator includes at least one reactive substance and at least one dye substance. The at least one reactive substance has a threshold temperature and the at least one dye substance has at least one characteristic peak in its absorption or emission spectrum. When an excess temperature is reached in the tire, the at least one reactive substance is heated above the threshold temperature and reacts with the at least one dye substance so as to modify the at least one characteristic peak. A related pneumatic tire includes at least one such temperature indicator.
