Abstract:
A method for rapid cleaning of an internal combustion engine cooling system includes:forcing the coolant liquid from the cooling system to the exterior of that system, treating the coolant liquid in a zone or zones outside the cooling system, said treating including removing contaminant from the coolant liquid, andreturning the treated coolant liquid to the cooling system.
Abstract:
An additive composition for use in fuel to be combusted in an internal combustion engine, the composition comprising, in admixture form:(a) between about 0.05 and 25% relative weight parts of an organic peroxide, and(b) between about 0.1 and 25% relative weight parts of detergent selected from the component group that consists of:(i) fatty amines(ii) ethoxylated and propoxylated derivatives of fatty amines(iii) fatty diamines(iv) fatty imidazolines(v) polymeric amines and derivatives thereof(vi) combination of one or more of said (i) through (v) components with carboxylic acid or acids having from three to forty carbon atoms.
Abstract:
A gasoline additive composition comprising an organic peroxide and a gasoline detergent in a hydrocarbon solvent. Improvements in engine power, fuel economy, and emissions are achieved when the composition is added to gasoline.
Abstract:
An inexpensive, highly efficient, durable, and easy to manufacture solar collector of the flat-plate type. The collector includes a heat exchanger having an upper plate, a lower plate, and four triangularly-shaped side plates defining an enclosed chamber, all plates being highly absorbent of solar radiation, the upper plate curving inwardly so that a central portion thereof extends closely adjacent the lower plate along a hot line extending between opposite corners of the collector; and means for conducting a fluid into and out of the chamber, at the remaining corners thereof, on opposed sides of the hot line, so that the fluid flows through the chamber, perpendicular to and in a thin sheet past the hot line, absorbing heat from the upper plate. The collector also includes a frame in which the heat exchanger is supported along the outer edges only in a manner such that light is reflected to the lower plate to increase the efficiency of heat absorption.
