    摘要: A computer-implemented method for providing multi-core and multi-level topical organization in social indexes is provided. A corpus of articles is accessed. Each article includes online textual materials. A finite state pattern is provided for a topic that filters the articles as candidate articles, which are potentially on-topic. Similarity-based representations for on-topic and off-topic core meanings of the topic are provided. An aggregate score for each of the candidate articles is determined using the similarity-based representations to indicate whether the candidate article is sufficiently on-topic. The candidate articles are presented ordered by their aggregate scores. In a further embodiment, a hierarchy of topics is provided and used to guide the presentation of articles from subtopics, with considerations of fairness of subtopic coverage, elimination of similarity-duplicates in articles, and article freshness.

    摘要: A computer-implemented system and method for providing topic-guided broadening of advertising targets in social indexing is provided. Articles of digital information and one or more social indexes are maintained. Each social index includes topics that each relate to one or more of the articles. A Web page, which includes one or more of the articles, is identified. The one or more topics in at least one of the social indexes related to the one or more articles are determined. A plurality of advertising expressions that are each associated with advertising content for an online advertiser are received. Each of the advertising expressions is successively matched to the one or more topics related to the one or more articles followed by matching words descriptive of the one or more topics.

The music sample is recorded and information about the music sample is identified. A music recommendation describing the music sample is generated and includes at least a portion of the information. The music recommendation is transmitted from the recommending user to a recipient user. The portion of information from the music recommendation is integrated into a display of a music collection on a digital media player maintained by the recipient user and is displayed.

    摘要: A computer-implemented system and method for facilitating evergreen discovery of digital information is provided. A hierarchy of topics for topically-limited subject areas is defined. Seed words characteristic of each topic are selected. Training material from the digital information that corresponds to the respective subject area of each of the topics is designated. Candidate topic models are formed from the seed words. Each candidate topic model includes a pattern evaluable against the digital information. An ability of each of the candidate topic models to identify such digital information matching the candidate topic model's topic is tested by matching the pattern in the candidate topic model to the training material. The candidate topic model for each topic that includes the highest abilities with respect to the topic in performance, simplicity and bias is chosen. An evergreen index is formed by pairing the chosen candidate topic model to each topic in the hierarchy.
