摘要： An image forming apparatus such as an electrophotographic copier and an electrophotographic printer. The image forming apparatus includes: a photoreceptor for forming a toner image on its surface; a charger for charging the surface with a bias voltage, including a DC component and a AC component, through a magnetic brush member which is in contact with the surface; a driving unit for moving both of the surface of the photoreceptor and the magnetic brush member in synchronism; a laser unit for imagewisely exposing a predetermined image area of the surface, which is charged by the charger, so that a latent image is formed on the surface; and a discharge lamp for exposing the surface with light so that the surface is discharged. In such the image forming apparatus, the discharge lamp starts exposing the surface with the light and the bias voltage, with which the surface is charged, is set at substantially 0 volt before the driving starts moving the surface and the magnetic brush member; and the predetermined image area of the surface is charged with the bias voltage, including the DC component and the AC component, after the driving starts moving the surface and the magnetic brush member.

摘要： Color image forming apparatus includes a belt-shaped image carrier stretched and conveyed around rotating rollers on which image exposure is conducted by a plurality of exposure units; and a plurality of step-formed supporting surfaces below the lower surface disposed of the image carrier. The stepped formation of the exposure unit supporting surfaces avoids interference between optical paths of laser beams for image exposure, and facilitates compactness of the apparatus. The belt-shaped image carrier and the supporting surfaces are provided at a relative angle of 5-30 degrees. The color image forming apparatus is also capable of detecting a specific pattern outputted from the exposure units; calculating the differences of positions of the specific pattern as formed by the different exposure units; and controlling the positioning of the specific pattern as outputted by the exposure units, so as to increase the accuracy of the image forming apparatus.

摘要： A color copier which can be adopted to a printer operation for a peripheral imaging machine. The color copier forms plural color component toner layers on a photoreceptor layer by layer at each rotation of the photoreceptor. In the mode that the color copier is used as a printer, the copier makes two pages of each of the color component toner layers corresponding to an image at one rotation of a rotatable photoreceptor, when the size of the image is not more than one half the maximum size that can be formed by the copier.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a reversing unit for reversing a two-sided document and placing the document on a platen, a reading unit for reading image data of either a front or back side of the document placed on the platen by the reversing unit, and at least one of: (i) a first detecting/setting unit for providing first information representing a position on which a binding margin of the document is located and a direction in which a top or bottom portion of the document is directed, and (ii) a second detecting/setting unit for providing second information representing a position on which a binding margin of an image to be printed is located and a direction in which a top or bottom portion of the image to be printed is directed. An image converting unit is provided for converting the read image data into output image data according to at least one of: (i) the first information with respect to the position of the binding margin of the document and the direction of the document, and (ii) the second information with respect to the position of the binding margin of the image to be printed and the direction of the image to be printed. And a writing unit is provided for printing the image to be printed according to the output image data.

摘要： An image forming apparatus has a photoreceptor drum and a toner image receptor for forming toner images on both sides of a transfer sheet. The apparatus includes a photoreceptor drum; a toner image forming unit for forming a toner image on the photoreceptor drum; a toner image receptor, disposed facing the photoreceptor drum, for holding the toner image; a first transfer unit for transferring the toner image, on the photoreceptor drum, to one side surface of a transfer sheet; a second transfer unit for transferring the toner image, on the toner image receptor, to the other side surface of the transfer sheet; a fixing unit for fixing the toner image transferred to both side surfaces of the transfer sheet; an image size discriminator for discriminating a size of an image to be formed by the image forming apparatus, and for generating a signal corresponding to the discriminated size; and a control unit for controlling the image forming apparatus so that either the toner image corresponding to one page is formed on the toner image receptor or the toner image corresponding to plural pages is formed on the toner image receptor according to the signal generated by the image size discriminator.

摘要： An image forming apparatus in which there are integrally provided a process cartridge, composed of an image carrying member in which a latent image is formed, and a developing device and/or a cleaning device. The process cartridge is detachably mountable on the apparatus. A moving device moves the process cartridge from a first position, allowing image forming, to a second position in which the process cartridge can be detached. The moving device outputs a signal indicating that the process cartridge is being moved. There is provided a device to output an instruction signal to a controller which, on receipt of the instruction signal, outputs a drive signal to the moving device to move the process cartridge provided that no signal is input from the moving device.
