Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for processing a set of communicated signals associated with a set of muscles, such as the muscles near the larynx of the person, or any other muscles the person use to achieve a desired response. The method includes the steps of attaching a single integrated sensor, for example, near the throat of the person proximate to the larynx and detecting an electrical signal through the sensor. The method further includes the steps of extracting features from the detected electrical signal and continuously transforming them into speech sounds without the need for further modulation. The method also includes comparing the extracted features to a set of prototype features and selecting a prototype feature of the set of prototype features providing a smallest relative difference.
Abstract:
Improved methods and apparatus for varying one or more parameters of a light beam are disclosed. In some embodiments, one or more light modifying elements are interposed in the light beam between the light source and a subject illuminated, each of said light modifying elements having a pattern of both areas of light modifying material and other areas without such material. An additional element produces a complementary light pattern, such that relative displacement of said additional elements and said at least one light modifying element can vary the proportion of light from said light source that passes through said light modifying material and reaches said subject. One or more of said additional elements may be provided and may increase the efficiency of the disclosed apparatus and/or provide additional functions.
Abstract:
A universal handle for household and other hand-held implements, the handle being adapted to ergonomically render the implement to which it is applied useable by individuals who have difficulty in firmly grasping a conventional handle. The universal handle, which is fabricated of elastomeric material having good thermal insulation and cushioning properties, includes an internal cavity to socket the core shank of the implement. The handle has an elliptical cross section, the opposing sides of the handle adjacent its upper end each having a concave depression, in each of which an array of spaced, flexible fins is anchored to define a depressible grip site. When the fingers of a user's hand are clenched about the handle, the internal region of the resultant fist conforms to the form of the handle to provide a good grip thereon, the thumb and forefinger pressing into the grip sites to enhance the user's grip on the handle.
Abstract:
A light dimmer is provided in which semiconductor power devices for each of the polarities of an alternating current supply are coupled between the alternating current supply and a lamp load. In the course of varying average power supplied to the lamp load, the semiconductor power devices transition between an initial one and a subsequent other of substantially conductive and non-conductive power conditions. The duration of the transition by the power device is increased beyond the minimum possible duration to reduce generated EMI. Methods of restoring each power device to its initial condition, including during a subsequent half-cycle, are described.
Abstract:
An improved color-mixing light fixture that produces a beam suitable for entertainment lighting and varies the apparent color of the beam produced by additively mixing varying proportions of light having two or more different spectral energy distributions is disclosed. The disclosed fixture employs a single light source and a single light beam that provides at least one plane at which light energy passing through any given point is evenly distributed across the beam where it reaches the subject, and disposes a filter array having at least three filter segments each having a different bandpass characteristic spaced around an effective center in that plane. Rotation of the filter array about its effective center adjusts the relative proportion of the colors produced by the filter segments and displacement of it in that plane relative to the beam adjusts the relative proportions of filtered and unfiltered light.
Abstract:
Apparatus for providing the operator of a light projector suitable for performance lighting and capable of beam azimuth and elevation control with data as to the current values of the projector's adjustable parameters. Current azimuth and elevation data is presented both visually, by means of a viewfinder mounted on the projector, and numerically, by means of digital displays. Alternatively, visual feedback may be provided with an imaging device having a field of view substantially the same as the beam mounted at the projector coupled to a display located at a location remote from the projector. A drive for remotely controlling the light projector in azimuth and elevation is then provided.
Abstract:
Methods and systems are provided for interactive gaming platform scene generation utilizing captured visual data and artificial intelligence-generated environment, with the gaming platform including at least a user device that has or is coupled to a display, with the gaming platform configured to obtain recorded footage associated with an environment pertinent to a game playable via the user device, to generate, based on the recorded footage, one or more video frames for use during playing of the game via the user device, and to display the one or more video frames via the display during the playing of the game via the user device. The recorded footage may be processed using artificial intelligence, and the one or more video frames may be generated using the artificial intelligence and based on the processing of the recorded footage.

An improved portable stand for followspots is disclosed. The stand has a lower portion resting on a load bearing surface and an upper portion coupled to the lower portion for rotation about a vertical axis. First and second standards extend upwardly from the second portion, supporting the fixture housing between them on tilt pivots, which are aligned on a horizontal axis. The tilt pivots can be displaced vertically relative to the coupling between first and second portions while remaining attached to both standards and housing. The improved stand permits a greater range in tilt angle and tilt axis height, including such that the followspot can be relocated while remaining fully assembled.
