    摘要： An method and apparatus for transmitting ranging information from at least one base station to subscriber stations and generating a ranging signal by the subscriber station using received ranging information in a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) communication system including a plurality of neighbor cells and a plurality of the subscriber stations located in each cell region. A first code generator generates a first code using different first code information received from the base stations in the neighbor cells allocated the first code information. A second code generator generates a second code using second code information received by each of the subscriber stations existing in cell regions of the neighbor cells. A ranging signal generator generates a new ranging signal by combining the first code with the second code.

    摘要： A method and system for controlling power in a communication system are provided, in which a base station calculates a power control value for an mobile station based on feedback information received from the mobile station, transmits power control information including the power control value to the mobile station, measures the strength of a signal received corresponding to the transmit power control information from the mobile station, determines the status of the mobile station using the signal strength and the power control value, and schedules the mobile station according to the determination.

    摘要： An apparatus for transmitting/receiving a signal in a communication system is provided. A Mobile Station (MS) spreads a transmission signal to generate a spreading signal, receives, from a Base Station (BS), information on a second spreading signal transmission region, extended from a first spreading signal transmission region, and maps the generated spreading signal to a subcarrier in the second spreading signal transmission region. A Base Station (BS) transmits information on a second spreading signal transmission region extended from a first spreading signal transmission region, for reception of a spreading signal, receives a spreading signal mapped to subcarriers over the second spreading signal transmission region, from an Mobile Station (MS), detects a spreading signal from the spread signal mapped to the subcarriers, and despreads the detected spreading signal to restore a transmission signal.

    摘要： A two-dimensional subchannel assigning method and apparatus in a time-frequency domain where a plurality of subcarriers are arranged along a time domain with a plurality of symbols and along a frequency domain with a plurality of subbands in an OFDM communication system. In the subchannel assigning method, the plurality of subcarriers are divided into a plurality of frequency bands and the frequency bands are grouped into the subbands. A plurality of groups are generated by dividing each of the subbands in the frequency domain by the number of the symbols in the time domain. Subcarriers selected from the respective groups in each of the subbands are assigned as an AMC subchannel to which an AMC scheme is applied.

    摘要： An apparatus and method for adjusting a data region to which data bursts are allocated in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. A cell load is calculated using information about data bursts to be transmitted and then compared with a predetermined threshold. A data region is adjusted based on the cell load such that a subchannel occupation rate is uniform over an entire data burst transmission time period, if the cell load is less than the threshold.
