A finger actuated pump dispenser employs a first upper hollow vertical cylinder with a first diameter and open upper and lower ends and a second lower hollow vertical cylinder with a second and smaller diameter and a closed lower end with a central opening. The lower end of the first cylinder is joined to an open upper end of the second cylinder. The inner wall of the second cylinder has a horizontal annular recess. A first vertical hollow piston has openings in top and bottom ends and extends slidably above and within the cylinders. The first piston has an enlargement intermediate upper and lower ends peripherally engaging and defining a first unbroken seal with the inner surface of the first cylinder. The first piston has a lower section extending downward from the enlargement to its lower end, the lower section having an outer diameter slightly less than the diameter of the second cylinder. A second vertical piston peripherally engages and defines a second seal with the inner surface of the second cylinder. The second seal is unbroken except when the second piston is aligned with and spaced from the annular recess. A vertical stem is disposed slidably within the first piston and is secured at its lower end to the upper end of the said second piston. The stem is longer than the first piston so that there is always a vertical separation between the lower end of the first piston and the lower end of the stem. A spring extends within the second cylinder between its lower end and the lower end of the second piston.

Disclosed is the development of a miniaturized flashlight which includes a top, and bottom, each of which is snap-fittingly secured to the other and joined by a further element, a flexible tubular housing member. The tubular member is desirably of an elliptical cross-section, but can be rectangular and multi-sided. The top and bottom are proportionally adapted to accept the cross-section of the tubular housing. A battery bridge is provided at the bottom of the bottom portion along with upstanding battery separators to thereby physically separate two batteries while electrically puting them in partial series contact. The top is adapted to fit over and ride upon the tubular member. The top has a separate electronic bridge at its upper portion for permanently engaging one battery, and leaf spring for selectively electrically engaging the adjacent bulb base above the other battery to thereby activate the circuit to illuminate the light bulb located in the top. The method addresses itself to providing a plurality of bottoms, tops, tubular members, batteries, light bulbs, and billboards all of which can be assembled by first inserting the batteries and then positioning the paper billboard interiorly of the tubular member. Thereafter the top is secured to the bottom. The top secures the contact switch in place so that it permanently contacts one battery adjacent the point where secured, and the leaf springs of the contact switch are yieldably engageable with the lower portion of the light bulb.

The stem is biased by a spring to close the discharge conduit and to position the enlargement above the aperture when the dispenser is in rest position. The spring is disposed outside the cylinders to exert an upwardly directed biasing force against the actuator and against the upper end of the stem. The piston and actuator can be interconnected in such manner that the dispenser can be placed in locked down position without actuation. This interconnection can be used regardless of the placement of the spring outside or inside the cylinders.
