摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of process units contacting a continuous recording medium and transferring images on the recording medium, a separating and contacting mechanism for controlling at least one of the recording medium and each of the process units to a separated state where the recording medium and the process unit are separated from each other and a contacting state where the recording medium and the process unit contact each other, and a controller for controlling the separating and contacting mechanism at a position where the process unit confronts a non-printing region on the recording medium so as to put the recording medium and the process unit to the contacting state.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a continuous medium printing apparatus for performing printing on both sides of a continuous medium. The continuous medium printing apparatus comprises: a conveyance system; a printing section; a feed-force adjustment section disposed on a downstream side of the conveying path from the printing section; and a feed-force control section. The conveyance system has a pair of conveyor rollers disposed on a downstream side of the conveying path from the printing section so that they are opposite to each other with the continuous medium therebetween, feed force being applied to the continuous medium by rotating the pair of conveyor rollers with said continuous medium clamped therebetween. The feed-force adjustment section varies said feed force by adjusting pressure of said pair of conveyor rollers with respect to the continuous medium. With this arrangement, the behavior of the continuous medium in the printing section is stabilized, and consequently, print trouble near the perforations in the continuous medium can be prevented.

摘要: A continuous paper treating apparatus is provided which includes a tractor for feeding continuous paper and a paper treating unit for treating the paper. The tractor includes a driving belt provided with tractor pins, a tractor lid for covering the driving belt, a support base having a paper support surface for supporting the continuous paper. The tractor also includes a presser member supported by the tractor lid. The presser member is variable in position and posture relative to the tractor lid, and has a pressing surface for pressing the paper. In the tractor, use is made of springs for urging the presser member toward the paper supporting surface, so that the pressing surface presses the continuous paper onto the paper supporting surface.

摘要: The invention provides a continuous medium printing apparatus which can exert a transporting force to act upon a continuous medium without additional provision of a new tractor mechanism or some other transport mechanism. In the continuous medium printing apparatus, upon automatic loading of a continuous medium, a control section controls a charging operation of a charging section so that a leading end portion of the continuous medium may be electrostatically attracted to an image forming drum. The image forming drum to which the continuous medium is attracted is rotated in a printing transporting direction to exert a transporting force to act upon the continuous medium to transport the continuous medium in the printing transporting direction. The present invention is applicable to an apparatus which prints on a continuous medium such as continuous recording paper (continuous paper), for example, by electrophotography.

摘要: An automatic cleaning method for cleaning an electrifier of an image forming apparatus. A drive mechanism moves the cleaning member to clean the electrifier. An electrification time measuring section measures an electrification time of the electrifier after the last cleaning of the electrifier. A medium detecting section discriminates whether or not a medium is located in an image forming station. A control section controls the drive mechanism to render the cleaning member to clean the electrifier when a medium is not present in the image forming station after the measured electrification time reaches a determined time. The result is that automatic electrifier cleaning can be done at an appropriate preset timing, causing an elongated service life of the electrifier.
