    摘要: A method and apparatus for compensating for errors in servo systems. An improved zero acceleration path (ZAP) correction technique is provided, wherein selected tracks of a data storage device are used for ZAP processing in order to reduce the overall time required to perform error compensation for a storage device. For a given selected track to be ZAPed, track profiles of adjoining tracks are used in addition to the track profile of the selected track as part of the ZAP correction determination for the selected track. Using adjacent track profiles as part of the ZAP correction determination assists in mitigating AC track squeeze issues that would otherwise occur when performing selective track ZAPing.

    摘要: A number of data pairs, each data pair comprises a write-to-read track misregistration (WRTMR) value and an average position error margin (APE) value, are determined for a data storage device. Each of the data pairs is associated with a unique predetermined non-repeatable runout (NRRO) error in the data storage device. Each of the predetermined NRRO errors is caused by subjecting the data storage device to a unique NRRO error stimulus. An ideal APE margin is then determined for the data storage device by using the data pairs to extrapolate an APE margin corresponding to a WRTMR value of zero.

A switch matrix includes switches and is configured to close a switch corresponding to a coarse reference based on the coarse output. A fine reference ladder provides fine references. A fine ADC performs a second comparison of the input voltage and the fine references and outputs a fine output based on the second comparison. Logic outputs a digital output for the sample of the analog input signal based on the coarse output and the fine output.
