Abstract: A method in an electronic device includes detecting, with one or more processors, initiation of an image capture operation using an image capture device situated on a first surface of the electronic device and having a first field of view extending away from the first surface in a first direction. In response to detecting the initiation of the image capture operation, the method includes actuating a second image capture device situated on a second surface of the electronic device and having a second field of view extending away from the second surface in a second direction. The method then captures image content with the second image capture device and presenting the image content on a display situated on the first surface of the electronic device. Thereafter, the one or more processors capture at least one image with the first image capture device.

Abstract: An electronic device included a first energy storage device coupled to a second energy storage device by a conductor. A thermal mitigation circuit, or alternatively, one or more processors, determine whether to draw more current from the first energy storage device or the second energy storage device as a function of a geometric configuration of the electronic device and a support condition of the electronic device. Current can be drawn from the second energy storage device situated in the second device housing, for example, when the electronic device is hand supported by the first device housing unless secondary factors exist.

Abstract: An apparatus for autonomous form factor control of a foldable mobile device includes a processor that determines a current form factor of the foldable mobile device and senses a forward motion or a backward motion of a subject within a field of view of a camera of the device. In response to forward motion of a user, the processor raises a pointing elevation angle of the camera to maintaining the user within the field of view by autonomously controlling the hinge angle between the first device housing and the second device housing of the foldable mobile device and in response to backward motion the processor lowers the pointing elevation angle by autonomously using shape memory actuators to control the hinge angle in the direction determined based on the form factor.

Abstract: An electronic device incorporates, and method and computer program product provide improved auto white balance (AWB) performance. The electronic device receives first image content from a first image capturing device of an electronic device. The electronic device receives second image content from a second image capturing device. The second image capturing device has a second field of view (FOV) that differs from a first FOV of the first image capturing device. The controller identifying, during an image capturing process for a target image within the first FOV, whether a condition exists that causes a distortion in a white balance of the first image content. In response to identifying that the condition exists, the controller captures the second image content within the second FOV, determining an AWB value for the second image content, and automatically adjusting the first image content using the AWB value for the second image content.

Abstract: An electronic device, computer program product, and method provide private messaging between people at a frequented location by using one or more AR display devices. The electronic device communicatively connects to a particular AR display device and attempts to identify access credentials to the electronic device of a particular person wearing the particular AR display device. The electronic device identifies that the particular person is a second person has limited access credentials, at the electronic device, to an AR user interface for leaving a private AR message intended for a first person who has full access credentials to the electronic device. The electronic device presents, at the particular AR display device, the AR user interface. The electronic device receives an AR private message from the particular AR display device and stores the AR private message for retrieval at the electronic device by first person.

Abstract: An electronic device, a method and a computer program product for automatic camera adjustments based on eye gaze tracking. The method includes capturing, via a front facing camera, an image stream containing a face of a user and determining, via a processor, an eye gaze direction of the user based on an image retrieved from the image stream. The eye gaze direction corresponds to a location on a display where the user is looking. The method further includes mapping the location on the display to a region of interest (ROI) for focusing a rear facing camera and generating camera settings of the rear facing camera based on the ROI. The method further includes adjusting the rear facing camera using the generated camera settings such that the rear facing camera focuses on the ROI.

Abstract: A computing device includes at least one camera system. When the camera application is running, the scene from the at least one camera system is analyzed to identify one or more barcodes in the scene. In some situations, multiple barcodes encoding payment links are identified in the scene. In such situations, for each of the multiple barcodes encoding payment links, the barcode is displayed along with the payment link encoded in the barcode and a description of the payment link (e.g., a name of the digital wallet corresponding to the payment link). Various additional information to help the user select one of the payment links may also be displayed, such as a current balance in the digital wallet corresponding to the payment link, rewards for using the digital wallet, discounts for using the digital wallet, and so forth.
