A large-sized liquid crystal panel uniformly filled with a liquid crystal material may be produced through a process including the steps of: fixing a pair of substrates with a sealing member disposed therebetween to form a blank panel having an injection port, reducing a pressure within the panel, applying a liquid crystal material onto the injection port, heating the liquid crystal material to its isotropic temperature, injecting the liquid crystal material into the panel under a pressure, and filling the panel with the liquid crystal material under heating and pressurization from the injection port toward the panel inside. The pressure within the panel before the injection is reduced at a rate not exceeding 25 torr/min. The pressure for injection is increased at varying rates, e.g., with an intermediate constant pressure period. In the filling step, a portion of the liquid crystal material near the injection port is held in its isotropic phase and the liquid crystal material except for the portion is transformed at least once into a smectic phase.

A conductive organic compound device structure suitable for constituting an electronic device, such as an organic EL device, is formed by including a pair of oppositely spaced electrodes, and a carrier transporting layer disposed between the electrodes and in contact with one of the electrodes. The carrier transporting layer comprises a conductive organic compound having a π-electron resonance structure in its molecule. In the device, the π-electron resonance structure plane of the conductive organic compound in the carrier transporting layer is aligned substantially parallel to surfaces of the electrodes. The conductive organic compound is preferably a conductive liquid crystal, such as a discotic liquid crystal or a smectic liquid crystal, and a layer thereof is included in the device, preferably by vacuum deposition.

A liquid crystal device is formed by disposing a liquid crystal between a pair of substrates each having thereon an electrode pattern. At least one of the substrates is provided with an insulating film comprising a first insulating layer formed by wet-coating and baking, and a second insulating layer formed by vacuum deposition closer to the liquid crystal than the first insulating layer. The insulating film stably has an excellent dielectric strength, so that the productivity and production yield of the liquid crystal device can be improved. Further, the insulating film allows less strict control of production environment and time after the formation, so that the production cost can be reduced.

A color filter is produced through the steps of: forming a layer of a color filter material including a colorant dispersed in a photosensitive resin on a substrate; and pre-baking, exposing and developing the color filter material layer to leave a color filter pattern on the substrate. In the developing step, a developer liquid is applied in the form of a curtain onto the exposed color filter material layer on the substrate, the substrate is allowed to stand in a substantially still state and then the substrate is supplied with an ultrasonic wave projected perpendicularly to the substrate while being in contact with the developer liquid. The ultrasonic wave is preferably uniformized by at least two rotating reflection or diffusion plates before it is projected onto the substrate. As a result, the color filter pattern can be developed with little development irregularity even on a large-size substrate.

A color filter plate suitable for inclusion in a color liquid crystal display panel is produced through a process including the steps of (a) forming a color filter pattern on a transparent substrate, (b) forming a light-interrupting mask layer over the color filter pattern, (c) abrading the mask layer with an abrasive to expose the color filter pattern and leave a patterned mask layer contiguous with the color filter pattern, and (d) coating the color filter pattern and the patterned mask layer with a protective layer. As a result, it becomes possible to omit a step of patterning the mask layer and an exposure mask for the patterning, so that the process is simplified, the production cost is lowered and the latitude of the mask-forming material is increased.
