摘要: An injection device 110 is described having a housing 112 and a housing closure means 130. The injection device 110 houses a syringe 114 having a needle 118 which is sealed by a boot 120. The housing closure means 130 is arranged so that the boot 120 can be connected to the housing closure means 130 simply, but cannot be removed from the housing closure means 130. The housing 112 and housing closure means 130 are arranged so that upon rotation of the housing closure means 130, the housing closure means 130 is moved axially away from the housing 112 and the boot 120 is removed from the syringe 114. The injection device is simple to use and manufacture.

摘要: An injection device 110 is described having a housing 112 that receives a syringe 114 having a needle 118, wherein the syringe is supported in a syringe carrier 150. The syringe 114 and syringe carrier 150 are biased by a return spring 126 from an extended position in which the needle 118 extends from the housing 112 through an exit aperture 128 to a retracted position in which it does not. A drive spring 130 acts via a drive to advance the syringe 114 from its retracted position to its extended position and discharge its contents through the needle 118 and a return spring 126, brought into play when the drive has reached a nominal return position, restores the syringe 114 to its retracted position. The injection device is less prone to failure than prior art devices and is safer should failure occur.

摘要: An injection device including a housing for containing a syringe having a bore extending from an end surface, a needle communicating with the bore through the end surface and a dispensing piston movable in said bore towards said end surface so as to expel the contents of the syringe through the needle, the housing having an opening at one end through which the needle may extend, a resilient member for biassing the syringe and the needle inwardly off the housing, a first coupling element moveable towards said one end so as to move the needle of the syringe out of the opening and to move the dispensing piston of the syringe towards the end surface, a mechanism operable to release the syringe such that the needle moves inwardly off the housing, a drive coupling for extending from said first coupling element to the dispensing piston of the syringe so as to transfer movement of said first coupling element to the dispensing piston wherein the mechanism is triggered to release the syringe and includes components to delay release of the syringe until a predetermined period after being triggered such that it can be ensured that the dispensing piston reaches the end surface before the syringe is released and/or the mechanism includes an inertial mass moveable with the first coupling element and drive coupling and a release member actuable by the inertial mass to release the syringe such that when the dispensing piston releases the end surface of the syringe and the first coupling element and drive coupling stop moving, the inertial mass continues to move so as to actuate the release member to release the syringe.

摘要: An injection device (210) is described. A housing (212) receives a syringe and includes a return spring (226) for biasing the syringe from an extended position in which its needle (218) extends from the housing (212) to a retracted position in which the it does not. A drive spring (230) acts on a first drive element (232) and a second drive element (234) acts upon the syringe to advance it from its retracted position to its extended position and discharge its contents through the needle. The first drive element (232) is capable of movement relative to the second (234) once a nominal decoupling position has been reached. A release mechanism is activated when the first drive element (234) is further advanced to a nominal release position, to release the syringe (214) from the action of the drive spring (230), whereupon the return spring (226) restores the syringe (214) to its retracted position. Decoupling of the drive elements is achieved with a particular form of releasable drive coupling using two pairs of overlying flexible arms (235, 247). A particular form of release mechanism that also uses flexible arms (233) is also envisaged.

摘要: An injection device is described. A syringe 114 is received within a housing, the syringe having a bore terminating at a forward end in a hypodermic needle 118 and at a rearward end in a flared opening 210 in which a bung 134a having a bore 206 surrounded by a skirt 208 is inserted. A drive element 134 has a forward end consisting of a substantially flat annular region 200 that bears upon the skirt 208 of the bung 134a and surrounds a conical middle region 202 that is received in the bore 206 of the bung 134a. An actuator advances the drive element 134 so as to advance the bung 134a and discharge the contents of the syringe through the needle 118. The opening 210 in the rear of the glass syringe is flared by being provided with a radius. The combination of the radius at the opening 210 and the projecting conical middle region 202 of the drive element allows misalignments of the two to be managed during automated assembly. This is because the conical middle region 202 either pass straight into the opening 210 of the syringe, or contact the radius, which guides them towards the centre of the syringe bore. The radius and the substantially flat annular region 200 and the central conical portion 202 of the drive element 134 are so shaped and dimensioned that axial misalignment between the syringe 114 and the drive element 134 during assembly of the injection device are corrected by, firstly, the conical middle region 202 of the drive element 134 riding up the radius to a point at which, secondly, the substantially flat annular region 200 also makes contact with and rides up the radius, to align the drive element 134 in the bore of the syringe 114.

The dose actuation mechanism (44) comprises a number of integrally hinged links (52, 54, 55) which are connected to each other at hinging points. A deflectable tongue (157), moveable in response to air flow from inhalation by a patient is attached to a first link (52), to move the first link in response to air flow, movement of the first link being transferred to a second link (54) to cause actuation of the dispenser. The first link rests at an over center, or stable, position prior to operation, and moves under center during operation of the device to trigger movement of the second link. The dose actuation mechanism is a one-piece moulding from plastics material.
