Abstract: An upright surface cleaning apparatus comprises a surface cleaning head and an upright section. The surface cleaning head has rear wheels having a diameter and a central longitudinal axis extending between the front and rear ends. The upright section is movably mounted to the surface cleaning head between a generally upright position and a rearwardly inclined in use position. The upright section has an air treatment member assembly comprising an air treatment member, a dirt collection region wherein at least a portion of the dirt collection region is exterior to and laterally spaced with respect to the air treatment member and a housing having a suction motor therein. The diameter of the rear wheels is greater than a depth of the portion of the dirt collection region in a direction of the central longitudinal axis.

Abstract: A surface cleaning apparatus has a cyclone chamber provided in an air flow path. The cyclone chamber has a screen assembly with an outlet section, a longitudinally spaced apart distal section and a longitudinally extending porous section. The outlet section includes a non-porous member extending longitudinally inwardly an outlet section length from an outlet end of the outlet section to a longitudinally inwardly positioned inlet end of the outlet section. The outlet end of the outlet section overlies a cyclone air outlet. The porous section extends longitudinally inwardly from an outlet end of the porous section that is located at the inlet end of the outlet section. Abstract: A hand vacuum cleaner has a cyclone having a cyclone axis of rotation that extends between the front and rear ends of the cyclone. A main body houses a suction motor. The suction motor is positioned rearward of the cyclone. The suction motor has an axis of rotation that is parallel to the cyclone axis of rotation. A pistol grip handle is located at the rear end of the hand vacuum cleaner wherein a finger grip area is positioned forward of the pistol grip handle and rearward of the main body. The cyclone axis of rotation extends through the pistol grip handle. An energy storage unit located at a lower end of the pistol grip handle and a power switch located at an upper end of the pistol grip handle.
