Abstract: A communication system is provided that includes a network node, a first terminal which supports an EVS (Enhanced Voice Service) codec, and a second terminal. The EVS codec supports an AMR-WB (Adaptive Multi Rate Wideband) codec compatible mode and an AMR-WB codec non-compatible mode, the AMR-WB codec having a dedicated payload format, where the AMR-WB codec compatible mode is compatible with an AMR-WB codec and the AMR-WB codec non-compatible mode is non-compatible with the AMR-WB codec. The first terminal and the second terminal negotiate the AMR-WB codec non-compatible mode in a session negotiation to select the AMR-WB codec non-compatible mode to be used for the communication between the first terminal and the second terminal when the communication starts.

Abstract: A user equipment in a wireless communications system supporting direct communication between user equipments selects a sidelink destination group (ProSe destination) associated with a sidelink logical channel having a highest logical channel priority among sidelink logical channels, which have data available for transmission in a sidelink control period (SC period) and which have not previously been selected in the same SC period, wherein each of the sidelink logical channels belongs to a sidelink destination group, each of the sidelink logical channels is allocated to a logical channel group (LCG) depending on a priority of said each sidelink logical channel and on a priority of the logical channel group, and the logical channel group is defined per sidelink destination group. The user equipment allocates radio resources to sidelink logical channels belonging to the selected sidelink destination group in decreasing priority order, and transmits the data using the allocated radio resources.

Abstract: Provided are systems and methods for transmitting data over a wireless channel from a data transmitting node to a data receiving node in a communication system. The data transmitting node comprises second-layer processing circuitry for receiving at least one second-layer SDU, to be mapped onto a resource allocated for data transmission, and for generating a second-layer PDU, including the at least one second-layer SDU and at least one second-layer control element, and first-layer processing circuitry for receiving the second-layer PDU generated by the second-layer processing circuitry and for mapping the second-layer PDU onto the resource allocated for data transmission. The data receiving node comprises first-layer processing circuitry for de-mapping at least one second-layer PDU, and second layer processing circuitry for receiving and parsing the second-layer PDU demapped by the first-layer processing circuitry, the second-layer PDU including at least one second-layer SDU, and at least one second-layer control element.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to user equipment in a mobile communication system. The UE comprises processing circuitry, which in operation, determines at least one radio link via which a first base station is to forward data packets to the user equipment. The user equipment is connectable to both the first base station via a first radio link and to a second base station via a second radio link. The UE further comprises a transmitter, which in operation, transmits a radio link selection message to the first base station. The radio link selection message comprises information on the determined at least one radio link for instructing the first base station via which at least one radio link to forward the data packets to the user equipment.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for activating a relay functionality of a ProSe capable and relay-capable user equipment within a mobile communication network. The radio base station, to which the relay UE is connected, determines whether further relays are necessary in the radio cell controlled by the radio base station. In case further relays are necessary in the radio cell, the radio base station selects a persistence check value and transmits a broadcast message in the radio cell. The broadcast message at least indicates that further relays are necessary and comprises the selected persistence check value. Upon receiving the broadcast message, the relay UE activates its relay functionality in case it determines that relay requirements for activating its relay functionality in the radio cell are fulfilled and in case a persistence check performed by the relay UE based on the received persistence check value is successful.

Abstract: A communication system includes, of multiple terminals, a UE with a floor granted that transmits data to an MCPTT server, and a terminal other than the UE that receives the data from the MCPTT server. The UE uses either of a first service performing communication with the MCPTT server in radio connection with a base station, or a second service performing communication with the MCPTT server in radio connection with a relay terminal. The UE, when switching a radio connection destination from the base station to the relay terminal during use of the first service or when switching the radio connection destination from the relay terminal to the base station during use of the second service, buffers the data generated during the switching of the radio connection destination, and after completion of the switching of the radio connection destination, transmits the buffered data to the MCPTT server.

Abstract: A remote UE transmits a first signaling for user registration of the remote UE into an MCPTT server. The MCPTT server detects a relationship of connection between the remote UE that transmitted the first signaling and a relay UE to which the remote UE is connected. Upon receiving voice data from a UE given a floor grant, the MCPTT server determines, as a destination UE of the voice data, only one of the relay UE and the remote UE that have the relationship of connection. The MCPTT server transmits the voice data with use of a unicast bearer for the destination UE. The relay UE transmits, to all of the remote UEs connected to the relay UE, the voice data that is transmitted from the MCPTT server.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for scheduling radio resources for a relay user equipment (UE) serving as a relay for remote UEs. Remote data is relayed by the relay UE between the remote UEs and a radio base station (BS). A remote scheduling identification is configured for addressing remote logical channels carrying the remote data. A relay scheduling identification is configured for addressing one or more relay logical channels carrying relay data. The relay UE receives, from the BS, a remote resource assignment, assigning radio resources to the relay UE for exchanging the remote data with the BS, the remote resource assignment being addressed to the remote scheduling identification. The relay UE further receives, from the BS, a relay resource assignment, assigning radio resources to the relay UE for exchanging the relay data with the BS, the relay resource assignment being addressed to the relay scheduling identification.

Abstract: A network node is provided that communicates with a first terminal, which supports a first codec and a second terminal. The network node includes a detector that detects switching of a codec of the first terminal and the second terminal, wherein the first codec supports a codec A compatible mode and a codec A non-compatible mode, the first codec being a new codec and codec A having a dedicated payload format, and wherein the codec A compatible mode is compatible with a second codec and the codec A non-compatible mode is non-compatible with the second codec, the second codec being a legacy codec. The network node also includes a transmitter that transmits a signal for the second terminal to switch the negotiated codec A non-compatible mode of the second terminal to the codec A compatible mode.
