    Abstract: An RF controlled lighting unit is provided, suitable for connection to at least one of a dimmer for adjusting a phase cut angle of input mains voltage in accordance with an adjustable dimming level or an electronic switch for selecting between on- and off-states. The lighting unit includes a solid state light source; a radio circuit for receiving a wireless control signal; a rectifier circuit for rectifying the input mains voltage received from the electronic switch or the dimmer; a first power converter for driving the solid state light source in response to the rectified input mains voltage and delivering power to the radio circuit; and a second power convertor for delivering power to the radio circuit when the rectified input mains voltage becomes inadequate for the first power converter due to the phase-cut angle of the rectified input mains voltage or the off-state of the electronic switch.

    Abstract: A method of controlling a lighting system comprising at least two luminaires arranged to illuminate a physical space, to render a version of a selected scene image. The method comprising: capturing at least one image of the physical space; using the captured at least one image to determine, for each of the luminaires, at least one location in the physical space associated with that luminaire; receiving a selection of a scene image to be rendered; processing the selected scene image to select at least two colors in the scene image and determining a respective location of each selected color in the scene image; comparing the determined scene image locations with the determined luminaire locations so as to identify, for each of the determined scene image locations, a matching one of the determined locations in the physical space; and controlling the luminaires to render the scene image, based on said comparison.

    Abstract: Each of multiple components, including a first lamp, is operable in a first mode in which it appears to a commissioning tool as awaiting commissioning, and a second mode in which it does not appear as such to the commissioning tool. Each component begins a commissioning process in the first mode. The first lamp then triggers a second one or more of the components (e.g. other lamps) to switch to the second mode, so that during commissioning the second components will not to appear to the commissioning tool as awaiting commissioning. Following this, the first lamp operates in the first mode so that it appears to the commissioning tool as awaiting commissioning (thereby representing the first and second lamps jointly). The first lamp also interacts with the commissioning tool on behalf of the second components, in order for the first lamp and second components to be commissioned as a group.
