Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed herein for verifying the competence of an operator in a manufacturing facility. In one implementation, for example, an operator competence verifying system comprises one or more input/output (“I/O”) devices configured to receive information from a user and provide information to the user. The system also comprises a processing device, which is configured to enable the user to set up a competence profile of an operator in the manufacturing facility. The processing device is further configured to enable the user to define jobs related to handling sensitive material at multiple material handling stages in the manufacturing facility. Also, the processing device is configured to assign training to the operator as needed to meet industry guidelines. The processing device is also configured to enable the user to define competence levels required at each multiple material handling stage.
Abstract:
Present invention deals with cost-effective surface-modified zeolite materials developed from commercial zeolites and flyash-based zeolites by treating with surface modifiers like hexadecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (HDTMA-Br). The formation of zeolitic materials with anionic characteristics requires treatment with a surfactant with initial concentrations greater than its critical micelle concentration (CMC). The sorption of oxyanions on the surfactant-modified zeolite (SMZ) is attributed to surface complexation and surface precipitation. Incorporation of metal ions on SMZ showed improved anion uptake for dearsenification of water due to synergistic effects and is able to meet the stringent target of 10 ppb of As on potable water being adopted by most countries. High selectivity, faster kinetics and high adsorption capacity ensures cost effectiveness of this product as compared to other low-cost products for dearsenification. Zeolite analogues with anionic characteristics have been developed for their applications for removal of arsenic from water. The material developed can also be used to remove other anions like chromium and selenium.

Gluten-degrading proteases derived from insects, including flour beetles, are isolated, and the purified, and recombinant forms can be used to make gluten-containing food safe for patients suffering from gluten intolerance.
Abstract:
A system and method in one embodiment includes modules for verifying a digital signature of a Microsoft® ActiveX® control, identifying an executable file of the ActiveX control, authorizing the executable file as an updater configured to enable trust propagation, if the digital signature is from an authorized issuer, and installing the ActiveX control. More specific embodiments include hooking an exported function in the executable file and marking a thread calling the exported function as an updater. Hooking the exported function includes patching the executable function so that when the exported function is called during execution of the executable file, a second function is executed before the exported function is executed. Other embodiments include extracting a cabinet file wrapping the ActiveX control, parsing an information file in the cabinet file, and downloading additional components for installing the ActiveX control.
Abstract:
A method of processing at least one garment involves a local environment with ambient moisture, a garment having a moisture content, a plurality of work stations, and a threshold amount of moisture. The plurality of work stations operate according to a plurality of parameters. The threshold amount of moisture is the amount of ambient moisture naturally absorbed by the garment. The method includes a processing step, a measuring step, a determining step and an adjusting step. The garment is processed through at least one of the work stations during the processing step. During the measuring step, the moisture content of the garment is measured. The relationship between the measured moisture content and the threshold amount of moisture is determined during the determining step. And, at least one parameter is adjusted based on the relationship between the measured moisture content and the threshold amount of moisture during the adjusting step.

Abstract:
Embodiments are disclosed herein that involve C5-functionalized nucleic acids, which can be used for detecting a target in a nucleic acid. Particular embodiments disclose methods for making these compounds, wherein the compounds can be formed by coupling of an intermediate with a linker. Certain embodiments disclose the use of these compounds for detecting single nucleotide polymorphisms, and for increasing the thermal affinity of nucleic acid complements as compared to unmodified nucleic acid complements. In addition, the disclosed compounds can decrease enzymatic degradation of nucleic acids.
