    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify that the UE is to scan one or more frequency bands during a cell acquisition procedure. The UE may receive one or more over-the-air signals, each of the one or more over-the-air signals having a respective bandwidth that includes a corresponding plurality of channels from a frequency band of the one or more frequency bands. The UE may process individual ones of the one or more over-the-air signals. The UE may evaluate, in corresponding batches for each of the individual ones of the one or more over-the-air signals, each of the corresponding pluralities of channels for cell acquisition. The UE may acquire a cell via batch-wise evaluation of the corresponding pluralities of channels.

    Abstract: The disclosure is related to locking an orientation of a display screen of a mobile display device. In an aspect, the mobile display device stores a first local orientation lock associated with a first application, wherein the first local orientation lock specifies a first orientation of the display screen to which the orientation of the display screen is to be set when the first application is displayed on the display screen, receives an instruction to display the first application, determines whether a global orientation lock for the display screen is set, wherein the global orientation lock specifies a global orientation of the display screen to which the orientation of the display screen is to be set, and sets, based on the global orientation lock being set, the orientation of the display screen to the global orientation and displaying the first application on the display screen in accordance with the global orientation.

    Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may be a narrowband Internet of thing (NB-IoT) user equipment (UE). Further, the apparatus may be configured to receive NB reference signals (NRS) on a NB channel during a gap between reception events, perform link quality measurements based on the NRS received during an evaluation time interval, the evaluation time interval being shorter than the gap between the reception events, determine whether a link quality is greater than or equal to a first threshold, during the evaluation time interval, based on the link quality measurements, and determine whether to enable an autonomous reception (RX) sleep mode for a remaining duration of the gap between the reception events based at least in part on determining whether the link quality is greater than or equal to the first threshold value.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a device, such as an internet of things (IoT) device, may include a configuration or software (e.g., in baseband) that is common for multiple applications of the device. In some aspects, the device may select a setting for at least some if not each of a set of parameters associated with or defining a device profile of the device based on an application of the device. The device may perform a mapping procedure to map the settings for the parameters associated with the device profile to one or more baseband configurations or baseband handles and the device may customize the baseband of the device using the one or more baseband configurations. As such, the device may operate or communicate using the baseband that is customized based on the device profile and application of the device.
