Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system and method for providing a basic power to a system in an event that a standby power of power supply units (PSUs) of the system fails. The system comprises a plurality of active components, one or more PSUs, and a power switch. The power switch is connected to a standby power output and a main power output of the PSUs. The power switch can receive status information of the PSUs and determine whether the main power of the PSUs is within a predetermined range. In an event that the standby power of the PSUs fails and the main power of the PSUs is within the predetermined range, the power switch can switch an input power from the standby power to the main power of the PSUs and output a basic power for system use.

Abstract: A control circuit for managing a power supply unit (PSU) of a system board, routes a standby power port of the system board to a standby power port of the PSU. The control circuit monitors at least one electrical parameter for the standby power port of the system board by using a sensor, and determines that the at least one electrical parameter meets a criteria. The control circuit transmits an enable signal configured for enabling a main power port of the PSU coupled a the main power port of the system board and rerouting the standby power port of the system board to the main power port of the PSU, in response to determining that the at least one electrical parameter meets the criteria.

Abstract: A server system includes an enclosure, a first section, a motherboard section, a fan section, and a midplane board. The first section is disposed at a first end of the enclosure and includes at least one heat generating component. The motherboard section is disposed at a second end of the enclosure and includes at least one motherboard. The fan section is disposed between the front section and the motherboard section and includes at least one fan for directing air in from the first end and out of the second end. The midplane board is vertically interposed between the fan section and the motherboard section, and is configured to electrically and communicatively couple the at least one motherboard to one or more components in the first section, and includes one or more airflow cutouts. The one or more airflow cutouts of the midplane board make up at least thirty percent of a cross-sectional surface area of the midplane board.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present technology provide methods for managing two or more PSUs of a server system according to one or more PSU management algorithms. Some embodiments determine present and/or predicted loading of a server system and loading of each of the two or more PSUs of the server system. A first subset of the two or more PSUs can be turned off based at least upon the current and/or predicted loadings of the server system and the loading of the two or more PSUs. The current loading of the server system can be rebalanced among a second subset of the two or more PSUs that are in operation. One or more PSUs in the first subset and the second subset of the two or more PSUs can be periodically swapped according to the one or more PSU management algorithms.
