摘要: Methods, systems, and computer program products are provided for managing computer power among a plurality of computers so that the aggregate power consumption does not exceed a maximum subscription amount, the maximum subscription amount comprising the maximum amount of power that can be supplied to the plurality of computers. Embodiments include monitoring, by a central power management module, aggregate power consumption of the plurality of computers; the central power management module and the computers coupled for data communications through a power management network; determining, by the central power management module, whether the aggregate power consumption exceeds a predetermined maximum aggregate power threshold, the maximum aggregate power threshold less than the maximum subscription amount; if the aggregate power consumption exceeds the predetermined maximum aggregate power threshold, throttling-down the plurality of computers, reducing the aggregate power consumption to a level below the predetermined maximum aggregate power threshold. Typical embodiments also include determining, by a central power management module, whether the aggregate power consumption is below a predetermined minimum aggregate power threshold; and if the aggregate power consumption is below a predetermined minimum aggregate power threshold, throttling-up the plurality of computers increasing the aggregate power consumption to a level that exceeds the predetermined minimum threshold.

摘要: A method and system for automated network benchmark performance analysis which providing a highly realistic benchmark test representative of actual operation of specific software applications, without requiring installation and/or operation of the software applications during testing. Selected software applications generally utilized within a specific network are identified and representative transactions within those applications are executed while tracing the operation of the software application to identify and record input/output operations which occur during those transactions. The recorded list of input/output operations is then utilized to create a benchmark script for utilization in testing which has a high degree of verisimilitude when compared with actual software application operations. Benchmark testing is then performed utilizing the scripted input/output operations and highly accurate performance parameters such as throughput, transactions per second and absolute minimum, maximum and average response times may be determined. Additionally, performance parameter statistics for performance of a selected sequence of input/output operations characteristic of representative transactions may be determined and utilized as a more accurate benchmark for performance than individual response times.

摘要: Embodiments of the present invention include computer-implemented methods for selectively applying remedial actions, according to a predefined order, for reducing the error rate in a computer memory system. In one embodiment, an ordered set of remedial actions are sequentially invoked in response to a single-bit error (SBE) in a DIMM reaching successive error thresholds. For example, in an air-cooled system, the remedial actions may include dynamically increasing a DIMM refresh rate, dynamically increasing a rate of airflow used to cool the DIMMs, and dynamically throttling the DIMMs. The remedial actions may be layered as they are successively invoked, to provide a cumulative remedial effect. At least two of the remedial actions may be simultaneously invoked in response to a multi-bit error rate reaching an associated threshold.

摘要: Systems and methods that provide power redundancy to a computer system without increasing the number of independent power supplies used. A system having N computing modules may have power redundancy using N power supplies, where each of the N power supplies are able to supply more power than required by an associated computing module, and where all but one (N−1) of the power supplies collectively can immediately supply power to any one of the computing modules when the power supply associated with that computing module fails.
