    摘要: A saveall apparatus is disclosed for collecting water ejected from stock through a forming wire of a papermaking machine. The apparatus includes a box which is disposed closely adjacent to the forming wire. The box defines an enclosure which is connected to a source of partial vacuum so that water ejected from the stock is collected within the enclosure. A throat wall is rigidly secured to the box and has an upstream and a downstream end. The upstream end of the throat wall slidingly engages the forming wire. A moveable throat wall cooperates with the throat wall for defining therebetween a vacuum slot which is connected to the enclosure such that the water ejected from the stock is drawn by the partial vacuum through the vacuum slot into the enclosure. The throat wall is disposed in a first plane, and the moveable throat wall is disposed in a second plane such that when the moveable throat wall is moved relative to the throat wall, an angle defined between the planes remains constant.

    摘要: A platinum resistance thermometer has an outer housing with a bore that receives a temperature sensor assembly including a mandrel having a sensing section with a platinum wire wound thereon and supported in the bore with a non-cohesive powder material that will distribute stresses caused by differential thermal expansion between the housing and the temperature sensor assembly. A second portion of the mandrel is supported in the bore with a rigid epoxy to mechanically support the sensor assembly with the sensing section cantilevered from the rigid epoxy.

    摘要: A temperature probe has a sensor housing with a sensor head and an associated scoop, together forming a primary airflow path, with the sensor head containing a sample chamber for the thermal sensor. Gaseous fluid is caused to pass through the primary airflow path, where its pressure is increased. The sample chamber is adjacent to the primary airflow path and configured to draw a sample of the flowing gaseous fluid out of the primary airflow path and bring it to and through the sampling chamber, while maintaining the sampled flow at essentially the same immersion depth as the primary airflow path. The sensor is connected to the housing and extends into the sampling chamber so that the gaseous fluid flows across the sensor's axis and sensing surface, rather than along the sensor's longitudinal axis.

    摘要: A temperature probe includes a sensor material optically communicating with a waveguide, and a sheath having a sheath coefficient of thermal expansion substantially matched to a thermal expansion coefficient of the waveguide. The waveguide has first and second ends secured proximate corresponding sheath ends. In another aspect of the invention, waveguide ends are secured near the sheath ends, the sheath is bent at one or more locations so that it is noncylindrical, and a midsection of the waveguide is loosely held within the bent sheath. In still another aspect of the invention, a metallic tube with the sensor material disposed therein is secured to the waveguide by direct attachment to a metallic coating on the waveguide.
