    摘要: A server at the edge of a broadband network distributes multimedia content streams to clients, while ensuring that the first data delivered to each client is key data (milestones) needed for correctly decoding the stream content. This is obtained by buffering the packets in the incoming stream and transmitting the packets from the buffer in an outgoing stream, starting with the most recent milestone placed in the buffer before a request to join the respective incoming stream is received. As the writing to and reading from the buffer are performed at different rates, the incoming and outgoing streams are eventually synchronized, at which point the client may be switched to receive the incoming stream directly.

    摘要: A circular buffer in a video delivery server tracks a second copy of a live video stream to provide instant replay capability. When an end-user initiates the instant replay function, the circular buffer is copied to an instant-replay buffer, from which a replay of the video is sent to the end-user. During replay the end-user can use playback functions such as pause, slow-play, freeze frame, etc. Upon leaving the replay function the end user rejoins the live stream. The circular buffer also enables transmission of delayed copies of the live stream, time-shifted by predetermined intervals, which copies are multicasted to end-users. Upon request, an end-user may join a delayed version of interest. This allows the user to replay interesting content by jumping to a time-delayed version without missing the show and to catch up with real-time during e.g. commercial breaks.

The subscriber device includes a decoder configured for converting the selected IP multicast format signals into a format for display on PC monitor or television. A PC component is configured for displaying the converted multimedia signals on the PC monitor in the form of a player window and for displaying a remote controller GUI on the monitor, the remote controller GUI being a model of a hand-held remote controller and controllable by the subscriber for controlling the selection of signals from the IPG.     摘要: Montgomery multiplication can be computed quickly by using carry save adders and parallel multipliers. We present an enhanced technique for very fast Montgomery multiplication that can be used for RSA calculations. This invention utilizes a scalable bit word implementation, suitable for very large bit encryptions. Such designs can be deployed on mid-level FPGAs that have dedicated multiplier logic, on ASICs, or on custom circuits. To our knowledge, our technique yields some of the fastest RSA encryption times to be reported, having area requirements similar to related work. Such circuits can be ideal for increased security in sensitive communication fields.

    摘要: An open media platform (OMP) notifies the subscriber terminals (ST) that the services it provides have changed and that the updated licenses should be retrieved. The STs then initiate a request to a license manager for the new licenses that are required. In response, the license manager requests from the OMP authentication/authorization of the ST and the license terms for the appropriate channels. The OMP authenticates the ST and determines the content ID's associated with the licenses that need to be issued. If authentication is successful, the appropriate C-ID's and terms are returned to the license server. When authorization and the license information are received from the OMP, the license manager generates the personalized licenses and delivers them to the originating ST to enable viewing of the protected content.

    摘要: For offering entertainment services by video streaming content to users, a video encoder creates the required .nsc file for each broadcast channel. This .nsc file is retrieved and stored on a server which notifies each set-top box in the field, via a multicast notifier of the availability of the new service. This notifier contains the multicast address and port to where the .nsc files are being streamed. Once the set-top box retrieves this notification, it attempts to join the dedicated multicast stream, download the .nsc files and store them locally in memory on the set-top box. When a user selects a broadcast channel from their lineup, the set-top box will access the local file to obtain the proper information about that particular ASF stream; hence, it will not have to do an HTTP retrieval.
