摘要: The present embodiments are generally directed to an improved imaging member exhibiting various advantages over conventional imaging members. More specifically, the present embodiments are directed to an improved interfacial layer formed from an aqueous-based coating solution which exhibits improved formation and coating properties, such as increased homogeneity and adhesion, and methods for making the same. The aqueous-based coating solution is environment-friendly and avoids the need to use more expensive organic solvents which involve higher safety risks in the manufacturing process.

摘要: A method of forming toner particles having surface particles attached thereto includes the steps of aggregating a material of at least one binder material and at least one colorant to produce toner particles, following aggregation, forming a mixture of the surface particles and the toner particles, and subjecting the mixture to a temperature above the glass transition temperature of the toner particles to coalesce the toner particles, whereby the surface particles become at least partially embedded within the surface of the toner particles. Toner particles prepared by such method include a core comprised of at least one binder and at least one colorant, and surface particles at an external surface of the toner particles, wherein at least about 50% of the surface particles are substantially completely covered by a portion of binder and a majority of the surface particles protrude from the toner particle surface a distance of at least 50% of the average particle size of the surface particles.

摘要: A solution polymerization process for producing an organic polymer from styrene and at least one other polymerizable monomer comprising providing a liquid reaction medium suitable for conducting said polymerization, wherein the reaction medium contains styrene and a polymerizable monomer other than styrene; and, anionically polymerizing styrene and monomer, thereby forming random copolymer chains, wherein the total quantity of said styrene used in said polymerization is at least 50% by weight based on the total weight of styrene and other polymerizable monomers used in the polymerization. A second embodiment comprises a copolymer made by the above-described method.A third embodiment comprises a process for forming a toner, wherein the process comprises providing a liquid reaction medium suitable for conducting a solution polymerization, the reaction medium containing at least two polymerizable monomers; anionically polymerizing the monomers, thereby forming random and nearly random copolymer chains; finely dividing the copolymer into particles; and, incorporating said particles into a composition for use as a toner. A fourth embodiment comprises a toner made by extrusion with pigment or colorant and change control additive to form small particles.A fifth embodiment comprises a solution polymerization process for producing an organic polymer wherein a difunctional initiator is used to initiate said polymerization.
