Abstract: A biocide testing system includes test columns, a bypass tube, control valves, and a control system. Each test column includes biocide test coupons. The bypass tube is fluidly coupled to each of the test columns. Each control valve is coupled between a respective test column and the bypass tube. The control system performs operations including: controlling the control valves to fluidly couple the test columns to a water source; controlling a pump to circulate water from the water source into the test columns to immerse each test coupon in water; controlling the control valves to fluidly isolate the test columns from the water source and to fluidly isolate each test column from the other test columns; controlling a particular control valve to fluidly couple a particular test column to a biocide source; and controlling the pump to circulate biocide from the biocide source into the particular test column to immerse the test coupons in the particular test column in biocide.

Abstract: A method for monitoring microbial levels in a wellbore fluid is provided. The method includes collecting a wellbore fluid sample, recovering ATP from the wellbore fluid sample, using the recovered ATP in an ATP-mediated oxidation of luciferin to oxyluciferin to yield photons, quantifying the photons, correlating the quantified photons to an ATP concentration, comparing the ATP concentration to predetermined action levels, and taking countermeasures when the ATP concentration exceeds the predetermined action levels.

Abstract: Methods for treating a formation may include introducing components of a treatment solution into a wellbore such that the treatment solution contacts the formation to be treated, where the treatment solution may include urea, urease, a calcium ion source, one or more polysaccharides, a casein protein, a protease, an ionic compound, and a sugar, where the formation may have an amount of sand production before treatment and may be in fluid contact with the wellbore, and where an amount of sand production after treatment may be less than the amount of sand production before treatment. Consolidated sand structure compositions may include previously unconsolidated sand interlinked by inter-particle cementitious bonds comprising deposited calcium carbonate crystals, where the consolidated sand has a structural strength and the consolidated sand structure is porous to permit fluid flow through the composition.

Abstract: According to the present invention a method of determining a concentration of sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) comprising is provided. The method comprises preparing a standard growth medium in a group of test vials, adding ferrous chloride tetrahydrate (FCTH) to the each of the test vials, adding a sample portion to a first of the group of test vials, sequentially diluting the sample portion by injecting succeeding vials in the test group with fluid from sequentially previous vials and incubating the group of test vials, wherein blackening of fluid in an incubated test vial indicates a presence of a threshold number of SRB.
