Abstract: A backlight device (12) includes a light guide plate (14), and LEDs (17), and wiring portions (18c). The light guide plate (14) has a substantially circular outer shape and has fan-shaped areas (SA) defined by segment lines (SL) extending through a center (C) thereof. All the segment lines (SL) meet at the center (C). The LEDs (17) are arranged such that middle positions between LEDs (17) each located at an end in the circumferential direction in the respective sets of the LEDs (17) provided for the fan-shaped areas (SA) adjacent to each other in the circumferential direction coincides with the segment lines (SL). The wiring portions (18c) are equal or larger in number than the LEDs (17) included in each of the sets of LEDs (17) provided for the fan-shaped areas (SA) and are configured to supply electric power to the respective LEDs (17).

Abstract: A backlight unit includes a light emission reflecting portion, first reflecting protrusions, and second reflecting protrusions. The light emission reflecting portion includes unit reflecting portions that include main reflecting surfaces and light reentering surfaces arranged opposite to the main reflecting surfaces, respectively. The first reflecting protrusions include extended main reflecting surfaces that continue to the main reflecting surfaces, respectively, and first auxiliary reflecting surfaces that reflect rays of light traveling toward an opposite plate surface and direct the rays of light toward the main reflecting surfaces and the extended main reflecting surfaces. The second reflecting protrusions include extended light reentering surfaces that continue to the light reentering surfaces, respectively, and second auxiliary reflecting surfaces that reflect rays of light entering through at least one of the light reentering surfaces and the extended light reentering surfaces and direct the rays of light toward the light exiting surface.

Abstract: A backlight device includes: optical members with a substantially circular profile, including a light guide plate, optical sheets, and a reflective sheet; a chassis (lamination member) disposed to overlap the light guide plate, the optical sheets, and the reflective sheet (optical members); and positioning structures. The positioning structures are provided on the light guide plate, the optical sheets, and the reflective sheet (optical members) and on the chassis (lamination member). The positioning structures have contact faces that come into contact with each other in the circumferential direction of the light guide plate, the optical sheets, and the reflective sheet (optical members), so as to position the light guide plate, the optical sheets, and the reflective sheet (optical member) relative to the chassis (lamination member) in the circumferential direction.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel, a liquid crystal panel flexible circuit board, and a backlight unit. Abstract: A backlight unit includes side emitting-type LEDs, a light guide plate, and an LED board. The light guide plate includes a light entering end surface, a light exiting plate surface, and an opposite plate surface. The LED board includes a plate surface attached to an edge of the opposite plate surface. A gap in a range from 0.1 mm to 0.2 mm is provided between light emitting surfaces of the LEDs and the light entering end surface. The edge of each light emitting surface is at a position ΔD1 mm inner than an edge of the light entering end surface with respect to a thickness direction of the light guide plate. An edge of each light emitting surface is at a position ΔD2 mm inner than an edge of the light entering end surface. ΔD1 and ΔD2 satisfy relational expressions: ΔD2≥ΔD1 and ΔD2≥0.1.

Abstract: Provided is a technique for controlling the hue of an image when the image is displayed on a display panel so that the image should not be displayed with a hue different from the actual hue. The display device includes a display panel that includes an active matrix substrate 11a and a counter substrate 11b, and a reflection unit 12. The active matrix substrate 11a includes gate lines and source lines 24, and includes a plurality of pixel areas that are defined by the gate lines and the source lines 24. The counter substrate 11b includes color filters 31R, 31G, 31B of R, G, B at positions corresponding to the pixel areas. The reflection unit 12 transmits light from the light source 14, and reflects light from the active matrix substrate 11a. The pixel areas of R, G, B have reflection areas that reflect light from the reflection unit 12 so that the respective amounts of light outgoing from the above-described pixel areas are approximately uniform.
