Abstract: A communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT) are described. Described aspects include a method of performing a random access procedure for a connected mode handover by a User Equipment (UE). The method includes transmitting a measurement report associated with a target gNB to a source gNB, wherein the UE performs measurement of the target gNB for one of SS blocks and Channel State Information Reference Signal (CSI-RS) as indicated to the UE by the source gNB.

In accordance with an aspect of the present disclosure, an embodiment of the present invention provides a method of a base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising: transmitting, to a user equipment (UE), a master information block (MIB) including initial downlink bandwidth part (BWP) configuration information; and transmitting, to the UE, Remaining Minimum System Information (RMSI) including initial uplink bandwidth part (BWP) configuration information, wherein the RMSI is transmitted based on the initial downlink bandwidth part (BWP) configuration information.

The method includes receiving configuration information on RA resources associated with synchronization signal (SS) blocks from a base station, receiving one or more SS blocks from the base station, determining whether there is at least one suitable SS block for which contention free RA resources are configured amongst the one or more SS blocks based on the configuration information, selecting a suitable SS block for which contention free RA resources are configured if there is at least one suitable SS block for which contention free RA resources are configured amongst the one or more SS blocks, selecting a first RA preamble corresponding to the selected suitable SS block, and transmitting the first RA preamble to the base station.

Abstract: A method which allows an evolved node B (eNB) to perform multi-subframe scheduling in enhanced license assisted access (eLAA) is provided. The eNB determining the subframes in a maximum channel occupancy time (MCOT) within which uplink transmission is performed. The eNB schedules resources for uplink transmission by user equipments (UEs) within the determined subframes. The UEs receive index values associated with a first subframe and a last subframe, in the determined subframes from the eNB. The first subframe and last subframe may be within a single, or multiple MCOTs. The UEs perform uplink transmission between the first subframe and the last subframe. The method allows forming a group with the plurality of UEs. A group identity, broadcast by the eNB, is received by the UEs. The method allows scheduling beams for performing uplink transmission by the UEs in 5th generation (5G) systems and scheduling multiple UEs while accounting spectral emissions.
