Embodiments herein disclose a method of protecting sensitive user plane traffic in an User Equipment (UE) (100), the method comprising: transmitting, to a network (200), by the UE (100) a first NAS message comprising an indicator indicating that the UE (200) supports of a secure channel for domain name system (DNS); receiving, from the network (200), by the UE (100) a second NAS message including DNS server security information in response to transmitting the first NAS message; and transmitting, to the network (200), by the UE (100) the DNS over the secure channel based on the DNS server security information.-

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). Embodiments herein provide a method of User Equipment (UE) handover from a Source-Radio Access Network (S-RAN) to a Target-Radio Access Network (T-RAN). The method comprises detecting whether the S-RAN and the T-RAN both support UE (101) Radio Capability (URC) signaling optimization. Further, determining whether a URC information corresponding to a URC Identification (URC-ID) is available at the T-RAN. Furthermore, sending the URC information to the T-RAN upon determining un-availability of the URC information at the T-RAN, or sending the URC-ID to the T-RAN upon determining availability of the URC information at the T-RAN. Finally, performing handover procedure with the UE (101) using one of the URC-ID and the URC information.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for receiving downlink data packets over Non-Third Generation Partnership Project (N3GPP) access. A User Equipment (UE) is configured to manage the triggering of Service Request procedures for receiving N3GPP Mobile Terminating (MT) packets in a coverage area of N3GPP access from a 5th Generation (5G) network. A Service Request procedure is triggered by the UE if the UE detects that the UE is in the coverage area of N3GPP access and that the UE is in 5th Generation Mobility Management (5GMM)-IDLE mode over N3GPP access and the back-off timer has expired. The detection is based on the UE determining that an access stratum connection is established between the UE and the 5G network over N3GPP access.

Abstract: Embodiments of present disclosure relates to an apparatus and method for managing security context related to a UE. Initially, registration of a UE with a new AMF in a communication network is identified. Further, generation of new security context by new AUSF selected by the new AMF for authentication of the UE is detected. Further, presence of one or more old security contexts elated to the UE and generated by one or more old AUSFs selected by one or more old AMFs for one or more previous authentications of the UE, is detected. Upon the detection, de-registration of the UE with the one or more old AUSFs is initiated for managing security context related to the UE in the communication network. Thus, stale and inactive security context related to the UE may be deleted in the network and security of communication with the UE is enhanced.

Abstract: A method disclosed herein includes registering, by a UE, with a same PLMN over a 3GPP access and a non-3GPP access. The method includes receiving, by the UE, a notification message from a CN of the PLMN over the non-3GPP access, in response to at least one communication service pending to be delivered to the UE over the 3GPP access. The method includes sending, by the UE, a notification response message to the CN over the non-3GPP access, in response to the received notification message. In order to avoid delay in acquiring downlink communication services, the method includes triggering, by the UE, the registration procedure with the CN to receive communication services over the 3GPP access in response to the UE entering the coverage of the 3GPP access.

Methods and systems for handling encoding of radio capability information of UE using RACS. A method disclosed herein includes encoding radio capability information of a user equipment (UE) in formats of multiple radio access technologies (RATs) that have been supported by a public land mobile network (PLMN) in which the UE is registered. The method further includes assigning a radio capability identifier (RAC-ID) to the UE for signalling the radio capability information encoded in the multiple formats across the multiple RATs. The method further includes encoding the radio capability information in a specific format of the indicated RAT and assigning the RAC-ID to the UE for signalling the radio capability information and the associated encoding format.
