Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a communication technique for fusing, with an IoT technology, a 5G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate than a 4G system, and a system therefor. The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services, such as smart homes, smart buildings, smart cities, smart cars or connected cars, health care, digital education, retail businesses, and security and safety related services, on the basis of 5G communication technologies and IoT-related technologies. The present invention, according to one embodiment, may provide a method for requesting a service by a terminal, the method comprising the steps of: receiving, from a first network core, information for instructing a second network priority traffic; on the basis of the information for instructing the second network priority traffic, searching for a cell of a second network; and, if a cell accessible to the second network exists, transmitting a service request to the second network.

Abstract: A terminal synchronization method and apparatus for use in a wireless communication system are provided. A synchronization method includes configuring, at the terminal, a synchronization signal reference time depending on whether a synchronization signal is received in an initial observation period as long as at least two frames, monitoring to receive the synchronization signal in an alternation period of a transmission period and a reception period, the alternation period following the initial observation period, updating the reference time depending on whether the synchronization signal is received in the reception period, transmitting the synchronization signal at the updated reference time in the transmission period, and updating the reference time depending on whether the synchronization signal is received in a dedicated observation period following the alternation period. The synchronization apparatus and method are advantageous in that synchronization is obtained without assistance of a base station, an Access Point (AP), etc.

Abstract: A network-assisted discovery method and apparatus for facilitating Device to Device (D2D) communication in the wireless communication system is provided. The network-assisted discovery method of a terminal in a wireless communication system, the method comprising, broadcasting a discovery signal information in a discovery signal transmission duration of the terminal, receiving assisted discovery information from a base station, determining whether the assisted discovery information comprises the discovery information of the terminal and determining whether to transmit a discovery transmission request message to the base station based on the result of the determination. The network-assisted discovery method and apparatus of the present disclosure is capable of mitigating the problems caused by resource collision and reducing power consumption of the device in the D2D wireless communication system.

Abstract: A scheduling method and apparatus using a non-orthogonal Connection IDentifier (CID) for use in a device-to-device communication system is provided. The scheduling method includes generating a non-orthogonal CID for communication with a counterpart terminal, determining slot indices for communication using the non-orthogonal CID, and communicating with the counterpart terminal through the slots indicated by the slot indices. The non-orthogonal CID-based scheduling method and apparatus is capable of selecting the slots for use in the non-orthogonal CID-based scheduling according to a rule so as to overcome CID collision in the system of using the non-orthogonal CID.
