Abstract: An electronic device and an operating method thereof for monitoring, identifying and controlling an application and a component which excessively consume battery power are provided. The electronic device monitors an operation of an application installed therein or an operation of a component embedded therein. The electronic device checks the amount of power consumed for the operation of the application or the operation of the component at regular intervals, and based on the checked amount of power, determines whether the operation of the application or the operation of the component is an abnormal operation. If the operation of the application or the operation of the component is an abnormal operation, the electronic device identifies a policy corresponding to the abnormal operation and based on the identified policy, controls the operation of the application or the operation of the component to eliminate the abnormal operation.

Abstract: An electronic device includes: one or more processors; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the electronic device to: measure a surface temperature of the electronic device; monitor a load of hardware and an occurrence of preset events; determine a proportional-integral-differential (PID) level of the electronic device based on the surface temperature; set each of a first minimum clock of a first limit clock of a central processing unit (CPU) and a second minimum clock of a second limit clock of a graphics processing unit (GPU), based on the PID level and the load; and determine, such that the surface temperature converges to a first target temperature corresponding to the PID level, the first limit clock to be greater than or equal to the first minimum clock and the second limit clock to be greater than or equal to the second minimum clock.

The memory may store instructions which, when executed, cause the at least one processor to obtain a first temperature associated with the electronic device via the plurality of temperature sensors, identify a second temperature associated with the first communication based on the first temperature being equal to or higher than a first threshold value, identify an operation state of at least one application, in which data throughput associated with the first communication is equal to or more than designated throughput, based on the second temperature being equal to or higher than a second threshold value, and adjust first data throughput of a first application, which is operating in a background state, among the at least one application.
