    摘要: A system to adapt the MAC rules of the IrLAP specification to accomodate various IR transceiver devices with media sense utilizes an IrDA protocol stack having a series of layers including: IR Protocol OSI Model Layers Transaction Service 3. Link Management Protocol Network Connection-less LSAP; LMP Connection-less data. 2. Link Access Protocol Data Link Connection-less data; LAP Framing: Rx & Tx; MAC. 1. Connectivity Physical IrDA-SIR, where LSAP is the Link Service Access Point. This kind of protocol stack can be applied to a very large variety of devices, such as, remote controllers with feedback for tuners; can be used for data transactions by request, e.g., pager reporting of received numbers; and is applicable to data acquisition systems, such as, portable GPS reporting of changes of location and medical systems. Various ways for implementing the invention comprise: using the connection-less data service; using XID frames; or using proprietary or open object definitions; with the use of the connection-less data service that is already present in the IrDA specification along with the emerging OBEX object definitions being preferred. Implementation requires no changes in existing systems, and the open service specification ensures connectivity between systems from different vendors.

    摘要: A new functionality in a fax communication system including a PC with a virtual data port (DTE) and a fax modem (DCE), having an infrared (IR) connection between them, wherein the DCE is capable of indicating to the local infrared communications, i.e., IrDA IrCOMM, port or interface the type of the software flow control, either local or end-to-end, so that the local and the remote IrCOMM ports can be made to function such that:______________________________________IF an XON/XOFF character is received from the client AND the mode is end-to-end AND the SW flow control is enabled,THEN the XON/XOFF character is handled as flow control and the character is transmitted to the host IrCOMM.______________________________________A new interface primitive at the interface of the IrCOMM in the DCE requests the desired mode and if the desired mode is "local", the XON/XOFF characters are not transmitted to the host system when SW flow control is active. When the mode is "end-to-end", then the XON/XOFF characters are always transmitted to the host system regardless of the SW flow control state. A new control channel parameter inside the local IrCOMM indicates the change of the SW flow control mode to report the change to the host IrCOMM.

    摘要: A system for providing a user with advertising content is provided. The system includes a presence server, an advertising distribution server, and a profiling and targeting component that interact to provide one or more advertisement objects to a user of a computing device based on presence data generated by the user. The presence server receives presence notification messages from the user's computing device and transmits the presence data to the profiling and targeting component. The profiling and targeting component in turn defines an advertising package that directs the transmittal of advertisement objects from the advertising distribution server to the user's computing device. The profiling and targeting component may also create a user profile based on the presence data for defining the advertising package and may further determine a trend of the user based on historical presence data. A method, apparatus, and computer program product are also provided.
