Abstract: In a magnetic tape cassette, a top end portion of a reel urging plate spring for urging a tape reel is subjected to a surface treatment to prevent from a friction. A distance between a couple of flanges of the tape reel is selected to keep a form of the wound magnetic tape, and to prevent the tape running from being disturbed by the increases of a contract resistance of the tape edges to the flanges. Additionally, positioning portions for positioning the magnetic tape cassette relative to a magnetic tape drive device are formed of a differential resin from the resin of the remaining part of the cassette case. Additionally, at least one of both end faces of each guide roller is surface treated so that the end face is not worn through its contact with the cassette half. Further, an information presenting section for displaying variable information is provided at a location other than label areas of the tape cassette.

Additionally, a plating treatment is provided on the contacts on the ID board. Further, a determined distance is secured between all end portions of the parts of the circuit board. Abstract: A storage case for a magnetic tape cassette comprises a storing portion 12 for storing the magnetic tape cassette, a lid portion 16 having an outer wall 28 surrounding the storing portion, and a hinge portion 14 for connecting the storing portion and the lid portion to be opened and closed, all of which are formed of synthetic resin. At least a pair of pressing ribs 32 are provided inside an outer wall 28 of the lid portion 16 to contact a peripheral edge of a surface of the magnetic tape cassette 10 when the magnetic tape cassette is stored, thereby holding the magnetic tape cassette between the pressing ribs 32 and the storing portion 12. By means of the pressing ribs 32, a gap D for containing the information sheets is defined between the lid portion 16 and the magnetic tape cassette 10. The pressing ribs 32 further include respective holding ribs 34 projectingly formed in a direction of the cassette face for holding paper ends of the information sheets, to thereby contain and hold a large amount of information sheet.

Abstract: The cassette half molding method molds one of upper and lower halves of the magnetic tape cassette by injection molding with an injection mold in which a gas vent pin for smoothing a flow of molten resin to be introduced in the cavity for molding a transparent or semitransparent window portion provided in the upper half. The cassette half is molded by this molding method. The magnetic tape cassette has a friction sheet interposed either between a pair of take-up hubs and the upper half, or between the pair of take-up hubs and the lower half, or both, and the friction sheet is made of polyethylene-based resin and has a surface electric resistance value in the range of 1×107&OHgr; to 1×1010&OHgr;. The magnetic tape cassette has a rib for reducing a resistance when the roller of the detecting member passes through which is provided at a position corresponding to a recess and on a side of the front lid in the top surface of the body case.

Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette, such as a high performance video cassette, having a greatly improved dust-proofing function. In a first embodiment, operating portions of brake members which engage a brake release lever which is inserted into the cassette at the time of recording or reproduction to release the braking system of the cassette are formed in an inverted cup shape so as to close the hole through which the brake release lever is inserted and to contain the end of the brake release lever when inserted into the hole. In a second embodiment, separate engagement and abutment portions are provided for each brake portion so as to prevent inadvertent opening of the hole if the tape reels are moved during storage. In a third embodiment, the dust-blocking member takes the form of a slitted flexible sheet member covering the hole when the cassette is not in use.
