摘要： A valve is provided which includes a valve body having a passageway from an inlet end to an outlet end and a tapered annular valve seat intermediate the ends, a plastic poppet being provided with a disc portion and a tapered portion which can engage the valve seat, the tapered part being stepped to provide a deflectable outer edge portion, the poppet including three beams which extend toward the inlet end of the body and are bent outwardly to enter a groove in the valve body, thereby providing resilient means to bias the poppet to a closed position. The valve body includes a transverse wall adjacent the valve seat, the wall having openings for allowing flow through the passageway and also including an opening that receives a post projecting from the poppet toward the outlet end and beyond the wall for engagement by a mating connector to displace the poppet to its open position.

摘要： A flexible bag container (10) is filled by a system (500) and method for filling the bag container (10). The flexible bag container (10) has a pair of walls (12, 14) and a spout member (18) attached to one side wall of the container. This spout member is opened and closed in the filling system. A plug member (22) is inserted into the spout member (18) from outside of the bag container (10) and is withdrawable in the opposite direction in order to open the bag container. The bag container is filled via the spout member after removal of the plug member outwardly of the bag container and into a filling head, and then the plug member is replaced from within the filling head into the spout member to close the bag container.

摘要： A flexible bag is positioned in a rigid container, such as a fifty-five gallon drum, and the bag is filled through its spout with flowable product, such as tomato paste. The bag is then expanded in the container to be substantially rigid and thereby reduce film movement and resultant flex cracking. A lid is sealed onto the container and a vacuum drawn from between the bag and the container, to, in turn, expand the bag. Gas volume needs to be present in the bag before the vacuum is applied so that the gas in the bag can expand from the vacuum on its outside. Once expanded, the container can be shipped.

摘要： A container of draft beer is substantially filled with beer having a volume of dissolved carbon dioxide greater than 2.6 and not more than 3.1 times the volume of beer. The beer is packaged in a plastic container that is slightly permeable to carbon dioxide, but retains a satisfactory dissolved carbon dioxide content even after a normal shelf life. Beer is dispensed by gravity, without use of external pressure source, after release of head space pressure. Moreover, when the container contents are partially dispensed by the consumer and then maintained at appropriate low temperature for several days, the remaining beer still retains a satisfactory volume of dissolved carbon dioxide. A spigot on the container employs a barrell valve closure member that seals the pressurized container and is movable to a pressure relase position in which pressurized gas within the container is slowly released without forcibly projecting container contents. The barrel valve closure is movable to a dispensing position in which the contents of the container are smoothly dispensed while air is admitted to avoid a blocking vacuum.

摘要： A container for holding and dispensing fluid has a flexible bag to which a spout is connected. A specially designed adapter within the spout has an opening sealed by a plug. A tubular probe is inserted into the adapter opening and snapped onto the plug. The connected probe and plug are pushed into the bag to permit fluid to flow through apertures in the probe. The probe channel is filled with fluid before insertion into the bag, thus introducing substantially no air into the system. Withdrawing the probe snaps the plug back into the adapter to re-seal the bag without substantial introduction of air, and without any leakage.

摘要： A method of aseptically and adiabatically processing liquid or semi-liquid food product at ambient temperatures so that the food product is transported from one sterile environment (such as a food processing machine), and into another sterile environment (such as a food package) via a food package filling machine head. During operation of the filling machine head, plural surface portions alternate between exposure to ambient and exposure to the food product. The method includes steps such that microbes from the ambient are not allowed to migrate along these alternatingly exposed surfaces. The method includes steps of initially heat sterilizing the alternatingly exposed surfaces at elevated temperature and pressure using culinary steam. Subsequently, an ambient temperature sterilizing barrier is maintained at a selected location along each of the alternatingly exposed surfaces so that migration of microbes along these surfaces and to the food product is prevented. After the initial heat sterilization using culinary steam, substantially adiabatic conditions are achieved for filling packages with the food product. Apparatus for carrying out the method is also disclosed.
