    Abstract: A thermal sensing system includes an electrical contact, a sensing element, and a position sensor. The electrical contact includes a shaft that defines a channel. The channel extends into the shaft from an opening along an outer surface of the shaft. The sensing element is disposed at least partially outside of the channel and is operably connected to the channel through the opening. The sensing element is movable relative to the electrical contact based on a temperature change within the channel. The position sensor is spaced apart from the electrical contact and the sensing element. The position sensor is configured to detect a position change of a portion of the sensing element outside of the channel responsive to the temperature change within the channel.

    Abstract: A charging system includes an electrical power terminal, a power cable, and a cooling tube. The electrical power terminal includes a pin and a block. The block has a front side and a rear side. The pin extends from the front side of the block to a distal end of the pin. The block includes a termination pad surface. The block defines a port therethrough that is spaced apart from the termination pad surface. The power cable is mechanically coupled and electrically connected to the termination pad surface of the block. The cooling tube extends into the port of the block, and is configured to absorb and dissipate heat from the block.

    Abstract: A power terminal includes a terminal beam having a mating surface. A protective thermal coupler bridge is positioned adjacent the terminal beam having a bridge conductor, an insulating substrate and a bridge pad. The bridge pad has a mating surface. A variable resistive member is electrically coupled between the terminal beam and the bridge conductor to provide a shunt so that arcing does not occur when the power terminal is disconnected from the mating power terminal. The mating surface of the terminal beam is separable before the mating surface of the bridge pad is disconnected so that the resistance in the variable resistive member increases after disconnection of the main power terminal from the mating power terminal and prior to disconnection of the bridge pad from the mating power terminal to shunt the current through the bridge conductor and the variable resistive member during unmating.

    Abstract: A terminal for a charging inlet assembly includes a head secured in a terminal channel of a housing of the charging inlet assembly having a terminating end configured to be terminated to a power cable. The head has a temperature sensor channel extending longitudinally therethrough open at the rear of the terminal. The terminal includes a pin at a front of the terminal. The pin has an outer surface defining a separable mating interface for mating engagement with a charging conductor of a charging connector. The terminal includes a temperature sensor assembly received in the temperature sensor channel. The temperature sensor assembly includes a temperature sensor and a lead extending from the temperature sensor through the temperature sensor channel. The temperature sensor is axially aligned with the separable mating interface of the pin within an interior of the terminal for sensing a temperature of the pin.
