Abstract: A method is provided for two-dimensional graphic representation on an aircraft display screen of an image or of a symbol or of a symbology (PE) whose three-dimensional coordinates in a terrestrial reference frame are known. The graphic representation of the object or of the symbol is stretched in a vertical axis by a constant factor (α) lying between 1.0 and 1.2, the stretching having, for its neutral plane, the local horizontal geographic plane containing the aircraft. Furthermore, when the symbology is a pitch scale consisting of graduations, two successive graduations being separated by a constant angular value, the graphic representations of two successive graduations of the pitch scale are separated by a constant distance on the display screen.

Abstract: A method for managing a symbology in an on-board viewing system for an aircraft, the graphical representation comprising the piloting and navigation symbology overlaid on a representation of the exterior landscape, the symbology comprises a first angular attitude scale comprising a first symbol called an aircraft mockup, a second speed scale, a third altitude scale and a second symbol called the speed vector. When the angular lateral distance between the position of the first symbol and the position of the second symbol is such that the second symbol is not overlaid on the lateral scales, the various scales are represented in the nominal position; when the angular lateral distance between the position of the first symbol and the position of the second symbol is such that the second symbol is overlaid on one of the scales, the various scales move and/or their size decreases.

Abstract: The general field of the invention is that of methods of three-dimensional synthetic representation of a terrain. These methods are implemented in a vehicle piloting and navigation aid system. The method according to the invention comprises the following steps: Step 1: Computation, for a determined position of the vehicle, of a first part or of the entirety of the terrain seen through the viewing system; Step 2: Computation, for the said terrain portion, of the curvature of the said terrain at each point; Step 3: Computation, as a function of the position and of the orientation of the carrier, of the position of the displayed points; Step 4: Computation of the luminance of each point of the said visible terrain portion according to a determined law, dependent on the said curvature; Step 5: Display by the viewing system of the luminance of each point.
