Abstract: Detection of sunlight as noise is avoided in obtaining point clouds by using a laser scanner. A laser scanner controlling device includes a sun direction calculating unit 115, a brightness measuring unit 116, and a scan condition setting unit 118. The sun direction calculating unit 115 calculates the direction of the sun. The brightness measuring unit 116 measures the brightness of an image that contains the direction of the sun. The scan condition setting unit 118 sets a condition for restricting laser scanning in the direction of the sun when the brightness is not less than a predetermined threshold value.

Abstract: A surveying system includes a target unit having a reflection target and an encoder pattern showing an angle of the target unit; a scanner configured to acquire three-dimensional point cloud data, measured coordinates of the target, and optically read the encoder pattern to acquire an encoder pattern read angle; and a leveling base configured to selectively allow either of the target unit and the scanner to be removably mounted. The scanner calculates a direction angle of the leveling base based on the encoder pattern read angle and the offset angle of the target unit, calculates coordinates of an installation point of the target unit based on the measured coordinates of the target and the direction angle of the target, and calculates a direction angle of the scanner based on the offset angle of the scanner and the direction angle of the leveling base on which the scanner is mounted.

Abstract: A technique is provided to facilitate visual recognition of deviations and misalignments in a superposed image. The superposed image is generated by superposing laser scanning point clouds on a panoramic image, which is obtained by stitching base images that are taken from different points of view. The panoramic image can include deviations between the base images. The superposed image can include misalignments between the point cloud image and the panoramic image. A display controlling device for a survey image includes a panoramic image generating unit that generates a panoramic image by stitching multiple still images, an image and point-cloud-image superposing unit that superposes laser scanning point clouds on the panoramic image, and a point-cloud-image transparency adjuster that adjusts a transparency of the image of the laser scanning point clouds to cause the laser scanning point clouds to be visually recognized while the underlying panoramic image is also visually recognized.

Abstract: A laser scanner which includes a mobile station calculates a two-dimensional fixed station coordinate system formed at least three fixed stations, calculates coordinates of intersections of at least three circles, which have the fixed stations as their centers and the distances between each of the fixed stations and the mobile station as their radii, at every predetermined angle as each positioning result of the mobile station while horizontally rotating the laser scanner by 360° around a mechanical point, averages each of the positioning results corresponding to 360° and calculates approximate mechanical point coordinates in the fixed station coordinate system.

Abstract: A navigation signal processing device includes circuitry configured to perform positioning of an antenna based on navigation signals received by the antenna from navigation satellites, set an elevation angle mask that causes inhibition of utilization of the navigation signals that are received from a specific angle range as viewed from the antenna in the positioning of the antenna, and obtain three-dimensional point cloud position data that includes data of multiple points of the surroundings as viewed from the antenna. The multiple points are obtained by a laser scanner or a stereoscopic camera and have determined three-dimensional coordinates. The circuitry is further configured to set the elevation angle mask that causes inhibition of utilization of the navigation signals that are received from a straight line direction connecting the antenna and each of the multiple points of the three-dimensional point cloud position data as viewed from the antenna.
