摘要: For a computer system that includes a storage system and a management computer, the storage system includes a first storage area, for storing data used by a computer connected to the storage system, and a second storage area, for storing a duplicate of the data included in the first storage area. The management computer includes first management information, for managing the frequency at which the data in the first storage area are copied. When the management computer receives a notification indicating the first storage area has been unmounted from another computer, the management computer employs the first management information for determining whether the data in the first storage area should be copied. Then, when the data should be copied, the first storage area is mounted on the computer and the data in the first storage area are copied to the second storage area.

摘要: The management and reliability of communications between computers and a storage system are improved. As between the primary and secondary communication ports of storage devices 20a, 20b, the system management server 10 sets the primary communication port as the current communication port as a default setting in each storage device. Where the system management server 10 monitors the primary and secondary communication ports and the current communication port fails or can otherwise no longer be used, the other communication port is set as the current communication port. The system management server 10 also manages the states of each communication port and the setting of the current communication port as communication port information.

摘要: A first cartridge and a second cartridge are detachably mounted in a housing of the image-forming device. The first cartridge is formed thicker than the second cartridge in a thickness direction orthogonal to a mounting direction of the first and second cartridges. The housing has a cartridge-accommodating section that accommodates the first and second cartridges. The cartridge-accommodating section includes first and second accommodating sections that are disposed continuously along the mounting direction and that are partly displaced with respect to each other in the thickness direction. The second accommodating section is disposed upstream of the first accommodating section with respect to the mounting direction and is formed thicker than the first cartridge and thinner than both the first and second cartridges together when the first and second cartridges are accommodated in the cartridge-accommodating section. The first accommodating section is formed thicker than the first and second cartridges together when the first and second cartridges are accommodated in the cartridge-accommodating section.

摘要: An ink jet printer includes a print head having ink nozzles, which is movable in a direction across the feeding path. A supply mechanism is provided at one side of the feeding path, which supplies ink to the print head located in the ink supply station. A maintenance mechanism is provided at the other side of the feeding path, which operates a predetermined operation. The ink jet printer is further provided with a first clutch which transmits the rotation of the actuator to the supply mechanism only when the print head is located in the above-mentioned one side, and a second clutch which transmits the rotation of the actuator to the maintenance mechanism only when the print head is located in the above-mentioned the other side. With this, the supply mechanism and the maintenance mechanism are actuated by a common actuator.

摘要: A method of producing an oxygen sensing element which is essentially an oxygen concentration cell in the form of a lamination of relatively thin layers. The first step of the method is to prepare a lamination of a ceramic shield layer, an inner or reference electrode layer, a solid electrolyte layer and an outer or measurement electrode layer which is formed by sintering metal particles applied to the solid electrolyte layer surface in the form of a paste or slurry and dried. Then an additional measurement electrode layer, preferably not thicker than 1.0 micron, is formed on the outer surface of the sintered measurement electrode layer by a physical vapor deposition technique such as ion plating, sputtering or vacuum evaporation. Preferably this electrode layer is formed by a two-stage vapor deposition process wherein the first stage deposition is terminated before the deposited layer becomes thicker than 0.5 microns. The addition of the vapor-deposited measurement electrode layer improves the responsiveness and durability of the oxygen sensing element.
