摘要: An improved system architecture for scaling deployments of data management-as-a-service (DMaaS) distributes “job manager” functionality so that a large-scale data storage management system may be deployed in a cloud computing environment as DMaaS without experiencing performance bottlenecks that slow down core data protection operations at scale. The disclosed solution creates an infrastructure where job manager features run on any number of distinct machines or compute resources that act as local job managers. In the illustrative DMaaS, any number of components that scale horizontally (“the distributed components”) carry job management responsibility for storage management operations such as backup jobs, auxiliary copy jobs, archive jobs, etc. These distributed components are configured to perform locally as job managers and to see each storage management job through from beginning to end without centralized control. These distributed components or local job managers also maintain, collect, and locally store job metadata.

摘要: A system to manage database management system backup objects may include an external storage component storing a first database management system backup object. A database management system node (e.g., associated with a database as a service cluster of a hyper-scalar infrastructure) may be configured to write information to and read information from the external storage component without being able to delete information in the external storage component. A backup housekeeping component, independent of the database management system node, may trigger a request to retrieve backup requirement information (e.g., associated with a maximum backup age, a latest backup identifier, an indication of a newest backup to be deleted, etc.) from the database management system node. The backup housekeeping component may then delete all database management system backup objects in the external storage component that are no longer required, including the first database management object, based on the retrieved backup requirement information.

摘要: In a data backup method of a storage device, environment information is received from at least one environmental sensor such that an operating environment in which the storage device is operating is monitored. An event detection signal is generated based on the environment information. In response to generating the event detection signal at least first data is immediately backed up to an external device located outside the storage device. The storage device includes a first port configured to be used to store the plurality of data in the storage device, and a second port different from the first port. In response to generating the event detection signal, the at least first data among the plurality of data are immediately output from the storage device through the second port.

摘要: Devices and methods for backing up digital data on storage devices which are automatically selected on an individual basis for digital connection, data exchange and data storage on a scheduled basis and each kept digitally disconnected when not selected and connected for backup data transfer and storage. Devices and methods which backup data on one of a number of an offline storage devices by connecting a selected storage device, backup data onto an offline storage device and then disconnecting the offline storage device, in order to isolate the backed-up data and optionally allow a different storage device to be used for the next back up event.

摘要: Example implementations relate to metadata operations in a storage system. An example includes receiving, by a storage controller of a deduplication storage system, a plurality of data streams to be stored in persistent storage of the deduplication storage system; identifying, by the storage controller, a set of journals in a first journal group that are modified during a first backup process; determining, by the storage controller, a count of the set of journals that are modified during the first backup process; comparing, by the storage controller, the determined count to a migration threshold; and migrating, by the storage controller, at least one journal of the set of journals to a second journal group based at least on a comparison of the determined count to the migration threshold.
