摘要： There is provided a liquid discharge head provided with an element substrate and a ceiling plate fixed in a mutually opposed state, plural liquid path lateral walls provided between the ceiling plate and the element substrate and defining plural light flow paths, plural discharge energy generating elements arranged in parallel on the surface of the element substrate so as to be respectively positioned in the plural liquid paths, plural movable members in the form of a beam supported at an end, provided on the element substrate so as to be respectively opposed to the plural discharge energy generating elements and provided with fixed ends at the upstream side in the liquid flowing direction in the liquid paths and free ends at the downstream ends, and plural projections provided on the ceiling plate for respectively limiting the amount of displacement of the plural movable members, the element substrate and the ceiling plate being composed of similar materials, wherein the liquid path lateral walls are formed on the element substrate, and, on the ceiling plate, there is provided an engaging layer having recesses for fitting with the upper end faces of the liquid path lateral walls.

摘要： A substrate for a recording head includes a circuit through which current flows upon impression of a source voltage, irrespective of the operating state of an energy converting element, and a current cutoff means for cutting off current to the circuit in response to an entered control signal. A reset signal for achieving a standby state of the printing operation serves as the control signal. The current cutoff circuit is operated when the reset signal is active in an H state, and it cuts off the constant current. By cutting off the constant current, the leak current of a heater power source VH may be accurately measured, permitting determination of whether the source voltage wiring is properly insulated from other circuit elements of the substrate. The constant current may also be cut off in the standby state, in which printing is not performed, so as to reduce power consumption.

摘要： This invention relates to a printhead substrate capable of suppressing an increase in wiring width and an increase in the size of a substrate formed by a film forming process while increasing the number of simultaneously driven printing elements in order to improve the printing performance, a printhead using the substrate, and a printing apparatus using the printhead. The wiring lines of the substrate are formed into a common wiring line, and energy applied to a heating resistance element is prevented from deviating from a stable ink discharge range owing to the difference in the number of simultaneously driven heating resistance elements. For this purpose, a driving element is greatly downsized in comparison with a conventional one, and the operation region of a MOS transistor is shifted from the non-saturation region to the saturation region.

摘要： A method for manufacturing ink jet recording heads includes the steps of forming a film of a first inorganic material in the form of ink flow path pattern using a soluble first inorganic material on the substrate having ink-discharge, pressure-generating elements formed thereon, forming a film of a second inorganic material becoming ink flow walls on the film of the first inorganic material using the second inorganic material, forming ink-discharge openings on the film of the second inorganic material above the ink-discharge, pressure-generating elements, and eluting the film of the first inorganic material. With this method, it becomes possible to set the ink-discharge, pressure-generating elements and the ink-discharge openings (ports) of each head with extremely high precision in a shorter distance with a good reproducibility to record images with higher quality and without any deformation of the head due to the applied heat, while providing a good resistance to ink and erosion, as well as a higher dimensional precision and reliability that may be affected otherwise by swelling or the like.

The liquid discharge head can discharge the liquid from the discharge openings by forcing the free end of the movable plate to be displaced toward the discharge opening around a fulcrum portion made near a support and fixing portion of the movable plate with the substrate due to pressure caused by produced bubble.

Two wiring layers for applying a voltage to the heat generating member are provided in a superposed manner with an interlayer insulation layer therebetween and are mutually connected electrically via a through-hole. The through-hole is provided in a position different from the boundary between a fixing portion and a movable portion of the movable member.

摘要： A base plate for use in a recording head, which is used by an ink jet head for printing by discharging ink onto a recording medium, the recording head being provided with energy converting element for discharging the ink by generating a bubble in the ink by converting electric energy to thermal energy, and an anti-cavitation film to protect the energy converting element from shocks generated at the time of bubble growth and extinction, the anti-cavitation film being used as electrodes for detecting the state of the ink by energizing the ink. The base plate comprises a first diode having the a cathode thereof connected to the anti-cavitation film and an anode thereof connected to a ground potential; and a second diode having the anode thereof connected to the anti-cavitation film and the cathode thereof connected to a power supply potential. With the structure thus arranged, it is made possible to reduce the possibility that the circuit element formed on a semiconductor substrate is destroyed by electrostatic discharge.
