Abstract: A solid-state battery and process of forming the same is provided. The solid-state battery includes a first metal electrode. The solid-state battery includes a first mixed conductor disposed on the first metal electrode. The first mixed conductor includes a mixture of ionic and electronic conductors. The solid-state battery includes a pure ionic conductor disposed on the first mixed conductor. The solid-state battery includes a second metal electrode disposed on top of the pure ionic conductor.

Abstract: Disclosed is a sulfide-containing solid electrolyte material with an organic coating, as well as densified pellets containing this solid electrolyte material, a solid electrolyte thereof, and a solid state battery containing the solid electrolyte. According to aspects of the disclosure, the coating comprising a compound of Chemical Formula (1) or Chemical Formula (2) is formed on the surface of a sulfide-containing solid electrolyte material, e.g., the organic coating may comprise a compound having a thiol with a long hydrophobic tail, such as 1-undecanethiol. The coating provides densification of sulfide-containing solid electrolyte materials, and facilitates the ionic and lithium atomic diffusion coefficient at sulfide grain boundaries during pressing, thus achieving the densification of sulfide solid state electrolyte.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for a battery that includes an anode, a separator between the anode and the cathode, a cathode, and a membrane coupled to the separator having a mixed electronic conductor and ionic conductor. A method may include casting a membrane onto a surface, dispersing carbon nanotubes in acetone to form a dispersion, adding a powder and dibutyl phthalate to the dispersion to form a polymer, and mixing the polymer. Another method may include casting a sheet of a composite, removing the sheet, and rinsing the sheet. Another method may further include casting a film, evaporating to form a dry film, and casting a mixture onto the dry film to form a bilayer membrane. Another method may further include casting a cathode, casting a CNT mixture onto the cathode, evaporating the cathode, and rinsing the cathode in ether.
