Abstract: There is provided an electrode sheet for an all-solid state secondary battery, which has an electrode active material layer containing an inorganic solid electrolyte (B) and an active material (C) on at least one surface of a collector, where the electrode sheet for an all-solid state secondary battery has an insulating polymer anchored portion that contains 50% by mass or more of a polymer (A) having a solubility of 1 g/100 g or more in water at 25° C., at a part of an interface between the collector and the electrode active material layer. There is also provided an all-solid state secondary battery in which a positive electrode or a negative electrode is composed of the electrode sheet for an all-solid state secondary battery.

Abstract: A standalone lithium ion-conductive sulfide solid electrolyte, methods of making and using the electrolyte, and battery cells and cell components incorporating the electrolyte can include a freestanding inorganic vitreous sheet of sulfide-based lithium ion conducting glass capable of high performance in a lithium metal battery by providing a high degree of lithium-ion conductivity while being highly resistant to the initiation and/or propagation of lithium dendrites. Such an electrolyte is also itself manufacturable, and readily adaptable for battery cell and cell component manufacture, in a cost-effective, scalable manner.

Abstract: Battery component structures and manufacturing methods for solid-state battery cells include a unitary Li ion conducting sulfide glass solid electrolyte structure that serves as the basic building block around which a solid-state battery cell can be fabricated. The unitary glass structure approach can leverage precision controlled high throughput processes from the semiconductor industry that have been inventively modified as disclosed herein for processing a sulfide glass solid electrolyte substrate into a unitary Li ion conducting glass structure, for example, by using etching and lithographic photoresist formulations and methods. The glass substrate may be precision engineered to effectuate a dense glass portion and a porous glass portion that can be characterized as sublayers having predetermined thicknesses. The porous glass sublayer includes a plurality of discrete substantially vertical closed-end holes or trenches that are precision engineered into one or both major substrate surfaces using microfabrication processes.

In some aspects, an electrochemical cell can include an anode disposed on an anode current collector, a cathode disposed on a cathode current collector, the cathode having a first thickness at a proximal end of the cathode and a second thickness at a distal end of the cathode, the second thickness greater than the first thickness, a first separator disposed on the anode, a second separator disposed on the cathode, an interlayer disposed between the first separator and the second separator, the interlayer including electroactive material and having a proximal end and a distal end, and a power source electrically connected to the proximal end of the cathode and the proximal end of the interlayer, the power source configured to maintain a voltage difference between the cathode and the interlayer below a threshold value.

Abstract: The method for producing a solid electrolyte sheet according to the present invention comprises: a first step of applying a first slurry containing a solid electrolyte to a substrate to form a first uncured product; a second step of drying the first uncured product on the substrate to form a first solid electrolyte layer; a third step of applying a second slurry to an upper surface of the first solid electrolyte layer to form a second uncured product; a fourth step of digging a sheet-formed three-dimensional structure into the second uncured product; and a fifth step of drying the second uncured product that has entered inside the three-dimensional structure and the second uncured product that is present on the three-dimensional structure to form a second solid electrolyte layer inside and on the three-dimensional structure, thereby obtaining a solid electrolyte sheet with the second solid electrolyte layer filling inside of the three-dimensional structure.

Abstract: A solid state battery includes an electrode laminate including an intermediate layer, a first solid electrolyte layer, a positive electrode, and a second solid electrolyte layer sequentially laminated on a negative electrode. The positive electrode includes a positive electrode tab extending therefrom. One of the first solid electrolyte layer or the second solid electrolyte layer includes a porous substrate. One other of the first solid electrolyte layer or the second solid electrolyte layer does not include a porous substrate. When the electrode laminate is viewed from above, outer peripheral ends of the first solid electrolyte layer and the second solid electrolyte layer are located outside an outer peripheral end of the positive electrode, and the first solid electrolyte layer and the second solid electrolyte layer are bonded to each other in a region not opposed to the positive electrode and the positive electrode tab.
