摘要: Systems and methods of improving business processes are described. These systems and methods enable service providers to improve the quality of services delivered to customers and employees by improving service execution through the optimal selection of resources (e.g., internal resources or external resources, or both) that are invoked to execute the delivered services. In one aspect, process execution data is accessed. Business process instances are classified in accordance with a quality taxonomy. A predictive model including a set of rules for scoring business process outcomes at different stages of the business process is built based upon the classified business process instances. In another aspect, process entities to be invoked at stages of an active business process instance are selected based upon the predictive model. In another aspect, a user is prompted to define a quality taxonomy for classifying outcomes of instances of a business process.

摘要: Method and apparatus are disclosed for managing at least one service level agreement (SLA) associated with at least one composite Web service. For each completed process instance, the status data logged in executing the process instance is analyzed to determine whether the process instance satisfied the SLA. The violation/satisfaction data and the logged status data are then used to construct an explanatory decision tree. Each node in the explanatory decision tree represents at least one attribute of the process instances, each branch from a node represents a subset of attribute values of the attribute of the node, and each leaf node indicates a probability value that process instances having attribute values consistent with the attribute values in nodes on a path to the leaf node fail to satisfy the SLA. Data that represents the explanatory decision tree may then be output to explain past violations of SLAs. Other embodiments generate a predictive decision tree that may be used in predicting whether active process instances will violate a SLAs.

摘要: A method of controlling the allocation of resources in a parallel processor computer. A critical path for executing a task such as evaluating a database query is determined. The minimum time to execute the task assuming infinite resources such as processors and memory buffers is calculated. Resources are scheduled against subtasks so as to execute the task in the calculated minimum time. The number of resources would be required to meet the schedule is determined and if the computer has that many resources the schedule is carried out. Otherwise a revised execution time is calculated, preferably by using as a scaling factor the ratio between the number of required resources and the number of available resources. Then the schedule is adjusted so that the task can be executed in the revised time and the number of resources that would be required to meet the adjusted schedule is determined. If the computer has that many resources the schedule is carried out, otherwise the process is repeated. Preferably the process is halted if two iterations result in the same number of resources being needed.

摘要: Data stream query mediation may utilize a query handler configured to receive a query from a stream application to be applied against a stream of data including multiple tuples representing events. A stream window manager may be configured to express the query in a specification which defines a window including a subset of the tuples, the specification defining content of the window as a range of the tuples having a range attribute over which the content is specified, defining when to update the window using a synchronization attribute specifying a movement of the window over time with respect to the content, and defining an evaluation of the content of the window using an evaluation attribute specifying when to perform the evaluation. A query translator may be configured to translate the query including mapping the range attribute, the synchronization attribute, and the evaluation attribute to a stream processing language of a data stream management system (DSMS), to thereby obtain a translated query. A DSMS mediator may be configured to provide the translated query to the DSMS for processing therewith.

摘要: An event-based scheduling method and system for providing automatic activity synchronization and automatic data exchange between workflows and between workflows and other applications. An automatic synchronization mechanism is provided for enabling workflows to interact with other workflows or other applications to automatically synchronize activity execution. An automatic data exchange mechanism is provided for enabling workflows to exchange data with other workflows or other applications. An event processing pre-compilation architecture receives a workflow definition having at least one event node and responsive thereto generates a workflow definition without event nodes at compile time. Each event node is replaced with a translated workflow node that conforms to the syntax supported by the underlying workflow engine. The translated workflow node is also assigned to an application that can implement the desired event node semantics. An event processing run-time architecture invokes the application assigned to the translated node when the translated node is encountered. The application employs a publication and subscription tool for automatically performing activity synchronization and/or data exchange at run time.
