摘要: The invention provides several promoters isolated from Oryza sativa, which promoters are capable of driving and/or regulating the expression of an operably linked nucleic acid in a plant. The expression patterns of the promoters according to the invention have been studied in Oryza sativa and some of the promoters displayed specific activity in particular cells, tissues or organs of the plant, while others displayed constitutive expression throughout substantially the whole plant. Some promoters showed weak expression, while others were strongly active.

摘要: The present invention relates to preparations comprising (arabino)xylan oligosaccharides with average degree of polymerisation between 4 and 10 and average degree of arabinose substitution between 0.15 and 0.35, which beneficially modulate the intestinal flora, such preparation comprising both xylo- and arabinoxylo-oligosaccharides. Preferably, the arabinoxylooligosaccharides are substituted in part by hydroxycinnamic acids and exert antioxidant effects. Furthermore, it is preferred that the preparations according to the present invention have a nitrogen content below 0.16% (w/w) in order to ensure good organoleptic and color properties, particularly upon heating said preparations. In addition, food, beverage and nutritional supplement products comprising the preparations are provided as well as methods to prepare the said preparations.

摘要: Biocidal proteins capable of isolation from seeds have been characterized. The proteins have an amino acid sequence containing the common cysteine/glycine domain of Chitin-binding Plant Proteins but show substantially better activity against pathogenic fungi, a higher ratio of basic amino acids to acidic amino acids, and/or antifungal activity which results in increased hyphal branching. Antimicrobial proteins isolated from Amaranthus, Capsicum, Briza and related species are provided. The proteins show a wide range of antifungal activity and are active against Gram-positive bacteria. DNA encoding the proteins may be isolated and incorporated into vectors. Plants may be transformed with this DNA. The proteins find agricultural or pharmaceutical application as antifungal or antibacterial agents. Transgenic plants expressing the protein will show increased disease resistance.

The nucleic acid molecule encoding a gametophytic S-RNAase is in a sense or antisense orientation relative to a regulatory region operably linked thereto. The regulatory region controls expression of the nucleic acid molecule, and the transgenic plant or tree exhibits self-compatibility compared to a corresponding non-transformed plant or tree.

摘要: The present invention provides a container suitable for the packaging and storage in separate compartments of at least two products, which need to be combined to prepare a ready-to-use product, such as a ready-to-eat food product. When the preparation of the ready-to-use product is desired, the container of the present invention allows to easily combine the contents of said compartments and to evacuate the combined products from the container through a closable opening without dislodging any one of the compartments from one another. In case the container is used to package and store components of a ready-to-eat food product, it is preferred that the design of the container allows for the practical consumption of the prepared ready-to-eat food directly from the container.
