Abstract:
The invention relates to container produced from a single-layered, helically bent sheet-metal trip (20), wherein a first, helically running peripheral portion (22) of the sheet-metal strip (20) is bent out in the direction of the outside of the container (10) to form a helically running bent out edge (24), characterized in that the second, helically running peripheral portion (26) of the sheet-metal strip (20) overlaps a third portion (28) of the sheet-metal strip (20) on the inside of the container (10), said third portion being adjacent to the bent-out edge (24) and extending in the direction of the second peripheral portion (26) front the bent out edge (24), and in that the second peripheral portion (26) is connected in a fluid-tight manner to the third portion (28) of the sheet-metal strip (20) on the inside of the container (10).
Abstract:
A suspension cable is encased in a metal pipe formed from a metal strip wound in a series of adjacent helical windings on the cable. The longitudinal edges of adjacent windings are connected by a continuous tight fold.
Abstract:
A cable for structures, especially suspension bridges, has a plurality of bundled tension elements spacedly surrounded by a tubular sheath, the space between tension elements and sheath being filled with a material, preferably injected mortar. To reduce the cost of producing, transporting and assembling such a cable, the tubular sheath is formed at the worksite from at least one sheet-steel strip in a shaping and seaming station and progressed along already tensioned tension elements, then sealed against anchorings for the cable, and filled with the mortar under pressure.
Abstract:
One sheet section edge is bent to form two edge portions making a U shape with the sheet. The second sheet section has the adjacent edge bent to form two portions which lie adjacent the two edge portions of the first sheet section, a third portion formed by a 180.degree. bend and an additional bend to engage the inside of the U.
Abstract:
Apparatus for forming pipe from an elongated metal strip including a supply reel for the strip, an elongated tubular carrier, an axle at one end of the carrier for supporting the supply reel and edge-forming means for bending the edges of the strip to join them in a helical fashion to form the pipe wall. In one embodiment, the supply reel is supported at one end of the carrier and the strip is guided through the carrier and out through an opening near the other end. The carrier is supported for horizontal rotation. Near the opening there are guide rolls arranged in a helical path so that the strip emerges through the carrier, goes through the guide rolls, and then goes through the edge-forming devices including profiling and rabbeting rolls, also helically arranged. A motor is mounted at that end of the carrier and a chain drive from the motor drives the profiling and rabbeting rolls. In another embodiment, the supply reel and the guide rolls and profiling means are all at the same end of the carrier, the supply roll being supported within a frame and the guide and profiling rolls being supported on that same frame. The entire apparatus can be mounted on a carriage for longitudinal motion to advance as the pipe is produced. Alternatively, the forming apparatus can sit still while the pipe being produced is continuously withdrawn from the forming area.
