    摘要： A recording apparatus includes a carriage capable of mounting and removing a head member, one side portion provided with a positioning unit for the carriage unit to position the head member, a head holding unit for holding the head member, being relatively movable with respect to the one side portion, an operational unit that engages with the head holding unit to move such head holding unit relatively with respect to the one side portion, a first biasing device for biasing the operational unit in the same direction as that in which the head holding member approaches the one side portion, a stopper arranged on the carriage for regulating the biasing force of the first biasing device in a given position, at the same time, causing the biasing force of the first biasing device not to be exerted on the operational unit in the given position, and a second biasing device for biasing the head holding unit in the direction in which such unit parts further away from the one side portion. With the structure thus arranged, a recording head can be removed from the carriage without any additional power from the user or the like once the operational unit is allowed to move to a given position where the stopper acts. The head removal is reliably executable just by one action.

    摘要： A recording medium transport mechanism has first rotary members provided downstream of a recording area in the direction of transport of a recording medium and on the side of a recording surface of the recording medium, and a second rotary member provided downstream of the recording area and on the side opposite from the recording surface side of the recording medium to guide the recording medium in association with the first rotary members to discharge the recording medium out of the recording area, the second rotary member including a liquid absorbing member provided on its circumferential surface portions and capable of contacting the first rotary members. This recording medium transport mechanism is used in an ink jet recording apparatus to prevent a contamination on the surface of a recording medium opposite from the recording surface side.

    摘要： An ink jet printing member mounted on a scanning carriage to discharge ink for recording while traveling with the carriage includes an extrusion that engages with a hook of the scanning carriage when this member is mounted on the carriage. This extrusion is arranged to dually function to identify the kind of the mounted ink jet printing member in accordance with the location of the extrusion and to secure the printing member on the carriage. With this arrangement, the structure is simplified to reduce the manufacturing costs significantly, while preventing the user from erroneously mounting an ink jet recording member on the carriage for an intended recording.

    摘要： A recording apparatus is of a type which operates in combination with a recording head, the recording apparatus comprises a housing, a carriage for reciprocating the recording head carried thereon, an accommodation space for accommodating a reciprocative movement area of the carriage, disposed inside the housing, a cover member for opening or closing at least part of the accommodation space to the outside of the housing, an opening portion for communicating at least part of the accommodation space to the outside of the housing, formed by a relative displacement of the cover member from the housing, and an operation unit for operating the movement of the carriage from outside the housing via the opening portion and the accommodation space. The operation unit controls movement of the carriage to a position within the accommodation space in communication to the outside of the housing via the opening portion.
